Newly pregnant! OB w/ RNY experience?

I'm still in shock - even though we were trying. It doesn't seem real! I'm 1 year and 5 months post-op and I have lost more weight than I currently weigh (172lbs). The plan is to keep eating healthy and fight dreaded cravings with healthy alternatives to high sugar, bad-for-me (and baby) foods.

Did anyone choose their OB because they have experience with RNY patients? Does that matter?

I don't think my OB knows diddly about RNY or WLS in general, but it doesn't matter. It's a plus, but doesn't matter. Just make sure you keep your surgeon in the loop and make sure your OB is willing to work in conjunction with your surgeon to make sure they are staying on top of your nutritional needs.

Congrats on your pregnancy and make sure you start taking a prenatal vitamin. Also, make sure you get carbs in. The recommendation floating around is 100g. Keeps your body out of ketosis. Make sure you also are getting your protein in. My doc recommends 75g, but others are different. Get your labs done to check your nutrition status as well. Iron levels will be very important. If your Dr.'s office offers a SpectraCell micronutrient test, get it! You'll have to ask through your surgeon, but it's very comprehensive and gives a great picture of your nutrition status.

Good luck with your pregnancy!

Yes and no. I was going to go someplace other than my GYN cause I wanted to deliver at a different hospital than the GYN goes. I did ask my cousin, who works in maternity at the hospital I want, for suggestions and that was something I wanted.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.
