wow... you forget
how little a newborn baby is! I went to my aunts funeral tonight, and my cousin was there who just had a baby 19 days ago. She weighed 7 lbs today and was SO tiny, she looked like a little baby doll. You totally forget how small they are, it's so weird. I think DH got nervous when he saw her. He's a big, tall guy and now I think he's a little scared to hold a new one that little!

My hubby is an only child. He has never been around kids growing up. So, he is SCARED of babies. When my niece was born, he really only held her at 4-6 months for a few minutes and we had to convince him to do that! He would play with her but to hold her - he freaked.
My best friend comes to visit often and they have two girls. Now that the youngest can talk, walk, etc he is fine. The girls love their "uncle Jory" and he loves them. But, it was the baby stages he wouldn't hold, feed, change, etc. He was scared to death.
I think we all want to see our husbands hold and cuddle our child. Especially the big, tall men, who are not emotional!

My husband was terrified of holding our son when he was first born. I think he only got comfortable after he was 4 months old.
But it does get better. I am anxious to see how my husband does with this baby. This is the first time we are having a baby together, I wasn't around when his daughter was born, and we only reconnected when my daughter was turning 2. So not sure how he will be with a newborn.

I know right. Jackson is 3 months old and 15 lbs and today I'm babysitting my cousins 2 week old..oh my goodness what a difference already she feels like a feather. DH was always afraid of newborns b/c they don't really have babies in his family so I was concerned about him holding him but he took to it right away I think he realized that it was his baby and the urge to hold him overrode being scared. He even started diaper hanging before we left the hospital. Just keep talking to him and encourage him. The funniest thing before Jackson was born I was telling Dh that he would get to carry the baby from the OR ( I had a section) and his response was " they are gonna let me walk with him" I just laughed and reminded him that it was gonna be his baby so yes. It will be OK if he doesn't get it right away it will come. P&PT's.
Yeah it's hard to believe they are so little. Matthew only weighed 6 lbs and 10 oz. His preemie outfit swallowed him whole. He was able to wear preemies for a month until he was around 9 lbs. I am getting clothes ready for a consignment sale and see the tiny preemie outfits and its just hard to believe. Looking at my 23 lbs chunk now I can't remember him being that tiny.
Once your dh see's your lo he will instantly fall in love. You'll probably have to fight him to get to hold her.

That is so funny! My hubby is a big guy too, 6'1, 245 lbs, and I think it is soooooo cute to see him holding babies! I cant wait to see him holding our new one when it gets here! I remember with my boys, each one weighed a little bit less, but only by ounces, yet each one seemed sooooo much tinyer than the last! :)
Super proud mommy to Dylan, Owen and Sophia Brianne!
