Gotta love genetics!

So, I am 23 weeks with twin boys- They are both measuring nearly a week ahead and are at nearly 1.5 pounds each, so they are pretty hefty and doing well. So- I've gained 30 pounds! How this has happened I do not know- I had an appt with my nut earlier in the day and she took a look at my food diaries- she was upset that I am not eating more! 30 pounds? WTH? Anyway, thought I would share. I can't believe it's so much- I'm scared to death! I also know that I am so lucky that both boys are doing so well and I am still able to work full time, go to grad school full time and take care of my daughter- I suppose that is the tradeoff. Anyone else experience this? I am going to try to eat healthier maybe- I am only just 18 months out and most everything still makes me upchuck, so I have to be careful. Just wanted to share!

I hear you about the weight gain. I was only supposed to gain 15-20 lbs this entire pregnancy cause I'm still overweight quite a bit. I have already gained 15 lbs! I do not have a nut. I am not sure if that's cause I have the lap band or what, but from what I've been reading I totally don't eat as many calories as they say too and I'm still gaining. I can't even imagine how much I would be gaining carrying twins. Did they give you an estimate of how much they wanted you to gain?

All I can say is I am glad to hear your boys are well... I gained 4 lbs this past week as of Monday and then I stood on the scale this morning and I was back down 2 lbs... I am only 10 months out and still big but I know weight gain is gonna hit me sooner or later... I am sure after ur boys r born u will drop all that weight back off... take care..

Carrie-

I know how you feel.  It seems like every day I get bigger and bigger.  I am also preganant with twins and 20 weeks now. As of my appointment at 18 weeks- I had gained 8 pounds.  7 of those came between weeks 14-18.  I'm sure that when I go for my next appt at week 22, I'll have gained another 7 pounds.  It seems like so much.  But it's what my Dr wants me gaining right now.  He wasn't concerned with the 7 pounds in one month like I was.

I am not eating anywhere near the 2500 calories per day they want me to.  However, at our ultrasound- the babies measured spot on for size.  Each was 9oz.  I did start buying the Belly Bar shakes to make sure I get the essential nutrients in every day- since my stomach is been pretty squirrely during pregnancy.
