Introducing Avery Lauren!
Hello Everyone! First I'd like to thank Liz for posting for me I never asked anyone to be my angel so I'm happy she was able to do that!
I was induced on Thursday 2/11 due to baby size... that morning they said she was 8lbs 13oz give or take a pound. I was praying it wasn't give!! They started Pitocen and broke my water around 10am and were expecting my labor to be pretty short. I got an epidural and it didn't take.. so I was in some uncomfortable pain... I kept telling the nurse and she said since I wasn't "jumping off the bed" I was probably fine. I wanted to slap her. My Midwife came in and made the Anesthesiologist come back after she placed internal monitors on the baby and inserted a cath (OMG OUCH) The Anesthesiologist basically said the same thing... that I was being some sort of wimp and to call him when I was in some real pain. Midwife wasn't in the room when this happened. About 4 hours later the midwife came back to check on me and she insisted that they fix the epidural because it was not working. So they came in and the Dr goes "Oh I don't think this was ever in right...." UM YOU THINK! A**hole! He wasn't the one who put it in... he was the attending. So anyways he re-did it and OMG like night and day... it was excellent!
I wasn't really progressing much so at 7pm there was talk of doing a c-section because they weren't sure the baby was able to fit through my pelvis... The midwife was consulting with the doctor and she ask that we wait just a little longer because she knew I could do it... The epidural started to wear off and I was finally ready to push, which only took like 20 minutes and Baby Avery was born at 8:55pm!
Avery Lauren weighed 7lbs 14oz and was 21 inches long.
The Post partum side of L&D was absolutely horrible... I was at a different hospital than with my son and it was just awful. I was barely seen at all.. the Nurse would only come in when I called for pain meds.. I had to BEG for supplies like pads... the fashionable net underwear... I begged for 2 days to get some dermoplast and never got any. My poor vagina! They never even gave me any ice...so now I've been having a really hard time peeing with out crying it burns so bad! They never showed me how to give the baby a bath or do anything with her--Thank God she wasn't my first baby so I didn't really need any of that... but what if I wasn't?? I thought it was horrible. The morning after I had Avery the hospitals financial department called me and started harassing me about how and when I was going to pay my hospital bill... um excuse me? I'm still in the hospital... I haven't even gotten a bill yet. It was incredibly rude and did nothing but stress me out. She asked me why I came to that hospital because it was more out of pocket expense for us etc... I wanted to be like "I'm asking myself the same question beeotch!" Anyways.... horrendous! I will never go back and I'm thinking about filing a complaint.
Lets see if I can post some pics... if not I may need some help :)
Thanks for reading my book!!!

Thanks for reading my book!!!
Congrats, she is beautiful!
I am sorry the hospital experience was horrible. I have been there done that. I would definitely complain, not only to the hospital but before you let your doctor and the insurance company know.
After I had my son it was very hard to move past the bad experience but writing a letter really helped and then remembering that he did arrive safely, regardless of how crappy they were.

Welcome to the world Avery Lauren!! It sounds like you had one heck of a time!
Make sure you file a compliant. See if that hospital has a Patient Advocate. Since you have discharged out the hospital and are complaining, it is considered a grievance. Make sure you call and talk to someone and then follow-up with a formal written grievance. You can check your laws for your state but they usually have so many days to respond in writing about your grievance.
