I just found out that I am pregnant however, I have only had my surgery 11 months ago. So I am scared and concerned as what to do about my situation. Any advice at this stage.

Congrats!!  Babies are a blessing!!  Your fears are normal!!  I was 9 months post op when I got pregnant.  I was told to wait, and had fully planned on following drs orders, but GOD had other plans for me.  I am currently 18 weeks pregnant and my baby is healthy and I am still around my goal weight of 190-200.  I give in to cravings if I feel I need to but I watch my body closely.  I know when I do something i dont need to or dont need to repeat, and I take vitamins.  LOL

Just do what your doing and listen to your body, It will tell you when your doing something wrong.  Have faith and mostly CONGRATS!!

**Keep in touch with your surgeon and OB.

It happens. It is not ideal by any means...but what to do but prepare and do what you can to ensure proper nutrition and supplimentation! Get on top of your labs and stay there, and get your protein in every day!

I also found out I was pregnant 4 months post DS. I freaked for about a minute, contacted my surgeon, sought support and advice here, and spoke to both my PCP and OB aobut it! I feel way better now!

I had labs drawn immediately after I found out, and surgeon will have them drawn every 3 months to ensure all is fine as we go along!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go eat a sandwich.  Waffles.  Pancakes.  Toast.. basically, breakfast for whatever it is when you read this.  Really.  Eat bread.

Start by making sure you eat at least 100g of carbs a day.  Minimum.  You need to get out of ketosis.  Now.

Protein is key, yes -- 90g minimum, too.  But ketosis right now is the highest concern.

You're gonna need a FULL set of labs.  But your OB is gonna also need to draw labs every 8 weeks.  Ferritin, serum iron, 0,25(OH)D, PTH, B1, B12, folate at minimum.  Plan on upping your calcium to 2000mg of citrate, 2 multies, folate to 1mg, if you start puking make sure you're taking thiamin (b1).

And congrats.

I got pregnant only 7 months post op and had the same fears. I am now 31 weeks and everything is going well. The baby is growing just as he should, though I've only gained 2 pounds from my prepregnancy weight. Just be prepared to continue to lose weight during the pregnancy and don't let it panic you. Your baby will get everything he/she needs from you. I have struggled with anemia and low B12 levels during the pregnancy. Make sure your surgeon or your OB is monitoring your labs and adjusting meds based on them.

You'll do great! And so will your peanut. Congrats on your miracle.
