My Trip to L&D...

Well this morning I woke up not feeling well, alot of shortness of breath, cramping and lots of low back pain / pressure. My OB"s office was closed because of the weather (we had a huge snow storm yesterday) and the on call was constantly busy and disconnected me. So I took myself to the hospital.  They hooked me up to all the monitors - baby looked perfect. OB came right in and checked me out - cervix is still long and closed tightly. She thinks that maybe they were B&H contractions, maybe the way that the baby was laying - not sure nothing was showing up on the monitors. They took a urine sample and the immediate results came back fine, we'll have the in depth results on monday.

Sure did give me a scare but I am so glad that everything is OK. She's got me on pelvic rest until my next appointment on 3/2 and just to take it easy. So in listening to the rules I am off to take a nap!

EEkk!  I saw this on FB, I'm just glad everything is OK.  Sometimes I have the exact same things you described.  It scares the crap out of me esp the lower back pain.  I called my OB the one time and she said they were most likely BH and just make sure there was no discharge or intense pain.

Get some rest lady, and at least you got to see an extra peek of the baby!

hmmm...lots of trips to L&D lately(me included).  Glad you are good!  I get the crampiness and the low back pain too.  I figure if I'm not in too much pain its probably the norm.  I don't know if thats right, but it always goes away.  I have it today, but I think I need to get my fluids back up to feel normal again.  STill working on being completely back to hydrated.

What's "pelvic rest"? Is it the same as being on bed rest?

no thank god - pelvic rest just means no sex. She does want me to rest as much as possible until I see her again on the 2nd but I am allowed to go to work and do my daily activities.

Thanks ladies - feeling better tonight - just tired and extra emotional

I was on pelvic rest from my 20 week US until this week when they confirmed that my marginal placenta previa had corrected itself.  Let me tell you....husbands are not fans of pelvic rest!
