Can we take musinex?

I am getting sick. For sure. My chest literally hurts and I can just feel the congestion in their. Can I take musinex to break things up? Please let me know what I can take as an RNY pt and preggo. Thanks ladies!

Yuck! THat stinks. I have been terrified of getting sick because I know I can't take my favorite medicine (Nyquil). According to this website you can take Mucinex, but you can't take Mucinex D. I think you should run it by your doc first though.

I "think" it is okay, but a quick call to your OB's nurse or even asking the pharmacist would be a good idea.  Usually no antihistamines until your 2nd trimester, and then you are good to go, but I would hate to give you a wrong answer, so always best to double check.  

I'm sorry you are feeling crappy :(  That sucks...I always felt 3 times worse when I was preggo and sick.  It just drains everything out of you.  Hopefully you can take some Mucinex and get over it quickly.  If not, get into your doc because you definitely do not want bronchitis or pneumonia while pregnant!  You will go through all the kotex and clean underwear that you have if you cough too hard all the time...LOL

Thanks guys! My dr office is closed cuz of the blizzard, but I was able to get ahold of the target pharmacist and she said I could take it. So yay. Lol.

I got a cold from hell around 16 weeks as well... the 3rd day of it I called the Doc and said OK I GIVE WHAT CAN I TAKE... she couldnt believe I went as long as I did with out calling for med lists... spacifically she said... "what are you a hippy, your in your 2nd trimester... " pretty funny...

Anyway make sure you check with your Doc first... they will tell you what you can take and want to have you check in in a few days to make sure you are improving...
