Another questions about vaginal Prometrium.

I have NEVER been pregnant in my 12 yrs of trying to be.  I started on my surgical 3 month diet in October and was actually all set to send in for approval this past Monday.  Well my period had never been regular until my gyn put me on provera.  Like clockwork every month since last February...low and behold I miss this months period.  (I hadn't take the provera since September to try and raise my iron level for surgery but I still got every period except this month.) I just took a test, or three, Monday and all were positive.  I immediately got on the phone with my gyn office to rush through bwork because at this size, and with my medical issues, I knew I would be high risk.  Mondays level on progesterone was a "little low" to quote my dr.  So she retook blood yesterday and it had risen some to a 6.3.  She prescribed the Prometrium and I just took one pill orally.  I keep reading everyone's comments that it is better vaginally.  I know this maybe a stupid question but Do I just insert it in my vagina and sit still til it desolves?  I take 2 pills (100mg) daily.  Just started this this afternoon.  Is it ok to try the vaginal use tonight when I go to bed?  I know researching this has somewhat freaked me out...being that I have waited soooo long to be a mom.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Prometrium is more effective if taken vaginally, because it gets the medicine closer to where it needs to be and will be absorbed through the vaginal walls (especially for those that have had surgery, too).

Yes, you just take the little yellow pill and put it up as close to your cervix as you can.  It will not all dissolve and you will definitely see "leftovers" when you use the bathroom.

I am not your OB, but I have lots of progesterone experience and have seen an RE for going on 3 years.  I believe your dosage is too low to sustain a pregnancy with that low of a number.  They should have you on 200 mg pills 2 to 3 times daily vaginally in my opinion.  And no I don't have a medical degree, but trust me when I have say I have been to the "School of Hard Knocks" to qualify me for giving that advice.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info.  From everything I have been reading online, most people are on higher doses.  I have to go back tomorrow for an early ultrasound, (my assumption is vaginally), and also talk to the ob so I plan on asking her then.  I so want this to workout after all these years.
