OB Visit

Everything was great. They did an ultrasound and saw baby kicking its feet and arms. It was squirming. She said the baby measured perfect (11 weeks and 3 days and I am 11 weeks and 2 days). She wouldn't measure the heartbeat today. She said she won't measure heartbeat until after 12 weeks. So, March 9th I will get to hear the heartbeat again and know the bpm.

I will be seeing the Maternal Fetal Specialist next week for the NT (I don't know the big long word) ultrasound and blood work. Then, I will see the specialist at 16 weeks for the repeat blood work. I guess it is looking for downs syndrome due to my age. She said that probably I would see the high risk monthly for ultrasounds but that would be the specialist call after they see me at 12 weeks and 16 weeks.

I pray all is well. I did not want the amnio or the cvs,  I only chose to do ultrasound and blood tesing.  I don't want to risk miscarriage.

ALl great news!!!! Congrats!!!

I see MFM once a month for ultrasounds too - I love it! lol OF course their office is open 8-3 M-F so I always have to leave work early, but that's OK!

I was able to opt out of the NT testing (I am 29), she told me if I was 35 or older they prefer that you do it since it is non-invasive. Just remember that it is a screening and not a test - unfortunately there are false positives! Not trying to scare you just passing on the info that I received.

SO happy for you and Hubby! How is he handling all of this?

He is doing well. I think he is finally starting to realize that we are pregnant. He is still VERY SCARED. He didn't want to tell anyone I was pregnant until like I was having the baby. I explained we can't hide it that long! He finally agreed last night to telling people on February 21 which is the start of the 2nd trimester. I understand about him not wanting to tell people as he is afraid to jinx it.

I hope they keep me for the monthly visits. I have a feeling giving my history of loss, age, and etc that they will want to keep seeing me. Fingers crossed!

Sounds great Traci, We were offered those screenings but I decided not to do them since we were not willing to change anything evenn if the baby should have downs syndrome, etc. I would rather not spend the next 7-8 months worrying about something I can't change. Some people prefer to know for preparation. Anyway, I hope everything continues to go well for you.

It won't change anything for us. Our OB really wants it and our RE recommended it. It really won't change anything as when we started TTC we agreed that there is a chance of speical needs for all of us and we would love it no matter what.

I guess my OB really pushes it. We refused the amnio!!!

Awww this is great!  Yep...I see the MFH specialist too.  Apparently because of my surgery, they consider me high risk...okayyy.. and of course, I am still quite fluffy which is another reason that they consider me high risk.  Whatever.  My daughter is perfect!  But I get monthly ultrasounds just in case to check for growth.  She is uh, like 3lbs right now so she is actually a tad chunky...but thats good.  They just want to make sure she is growing.  Yep...she likes to eat like her mom.  But back to you and your little one...isn't it amazing to see them squirming around and moving their arms and legs?  Those ultrasounds are the best.  I am STILL scared before each of mine...but seeing them moving around having fun...it is the best!

So happy for you!!
