Birth Control after baby...

Hello everyone... I'm just looking for opinions on BC methods after I have the baby. I pretty much have been on the pill for 10 years and it was very effective... however I'm concerned about gaining weight.

After I have Avery I'll be rescheduling my WLS revision that I had planned prior to finding out I was pregnant.

I want something that will be both effective post revision and will not cause weight gain.

So what do you use? What do you like? Perhaps I'll just abstain LOL!

Mirena IUD all the way after this one, had it after my 2nd baby and LOVED it!  Dont' have to worry about taking a pill and it's effective for 5 years!   Can have it put in at my 6 wk visit and it made me have no periods or PMS symptoms.  Loved it!

Hit goal weight of 140 at 13 months out from RNY!! 130 pounds GONE!

Thanks! I know I considered the Mirena after I had Zachary... I think it was the cost that steered me away... I can't remember if I had to pay for the whole thing out of pocket or not... I'll have to check!

I just had the Mirena IUD put in.  I have also been on the pill for 10 plus years.  I'm finding that I love the IUD so far.  No worries, no pill , nothing to think about.   I was told my periods would be so light that they may only last 1 day... however this first period is going on a week and a half and is very heavy.  I'm hoping it's just because it's my first period.

Thanks for the input! Did they say anything about weight gain with the Mirena?

I had the Mirena IUD placed in July.  I love it!  I had spotting for about 4 weeks after....but haven't had anything since.  I haven't gained a pound of weight either.

Thanks! Did your insurance cover the IUD?

Yes my insurance covered it other than my 20.00 office co-pay.

Revision on 02/28/12
I had my tubes tied when Noah was born.  Tje orginal plan was for Tom to have a vasectomy.  He has already missed so much work with his parents that he doesn't need to miss anymore.
Are you thinking about having more babies?

I've had the mirena twice.  The first time I had it for two years and  I loved it.  The 2nd time was after Hannah was born.  I bled the whole months it was in.  I think my uterus at 6 weeks postpartum just wasn't ready for the IUD.

What are you revising too?

As of right now I'm not planning on anymore babies........however I have a hard time parting with any baby things and I don't feel comfortable getting my tubes tied yet.... "just in case"??? lol I'm probably being silly.

My gastric bypass was done incorrectly and I found out last year that I have no pouch. My stomach looks like an upside down funnel and everything just goes to my intestines. So I will be having a new doctor fix the previous RNY. They won't do it for another 6-12 months :(  But at least I know that my lack of weight loss isn't completely my failure!

The doctor is pretty strict and ragged on me pretty bad with weight loss prior to the revision....So I'm trying to find a birth control that won't inhibit that goal.

By the way- Still hanging out........ No baby yet! LOL
