Car seat quest
After having three children and having them all grow out of the infant carrier by 2 months old, I decided the way to go this time is to skip the infant carrier and use a convertible car seat. Does anyone have a favorite convertible car seat. I am worried about it reclining enough and such. I have been looking on line now for weeks and I am about to make my self crazy.
i use this one... i love it.. and jayson loves it

I would go to a Babies R Us and test them out. All the ones in this area have an actual seat from a car where you can buckle them in. Then you can see how far they recline in an actual seat. You may even be able to talk the store into letting you try one out in your car.
They sell the infant carriers that go to 30 pounds now too, but I can't see wanting to carry one around for that long. They are only really handy, in my opinion, when you have a tiny baby that sleeps a lot.

I love Britax and used them for all three kids http://www.britaxusa.com/car-seats. I'm using the Marathon for the youngest 2 (5 mos & 31 mos), goes from 5lbs to 65lbs. I'm using the Regent for my oldest (4 yrs), goes from 25 to 85 lbs, front facing.
I have a minivan so I have the room but I cant put the baby (rear facing) anywhere else except for the middle. Hubby pushes his car seat all the way back when driving and it would be in the way.
I'd be lost without my carrier however. I have a leftover one from baby#1 that I keep in the trunk just for shopping trips. I need one or else I'd never go food shopping! LOL Keep an eye out for a cheapo one or a secondhand one just for that reason
Go to babies r us- they will let you try it for fit in your car
