My pregnancy so far, some questions.

I'm 6 weeks today, started seeing a midwife that I already knew, but she is not comfortable with taking me on because of the gastric bypass. At my appt today my blood pressure was low 115/58 and she thinks I should see an OB. I'm also already having probs with constipation & having pain in my pelvic bone. I just feel like crap today. Did anyone else have any probs that you or your Dr thought might be realated to your WLS?

My surgeon and OB told me that the only "problem" that I would have because of my RNY would be absorption of vitamins. So they monitor my labs - I had them drawn at 20 weeks and reviewed by all involved, and I'll have them drawn again around 30 weeks and reviewed by all again. I see maternal and fetal medicine for monthly growth scans (ultrasounds) of the baby just to be cautious. baby is growing perfect and is in the 54th percentile at 24 weeks (I went last week).

From what I have been told constipation and pelvic pain are normal pregnancy things. I have helped my constipation with apple juice and prunes and if I forget for a few days colace is on my OK list too.

Oh and we also can't do the normal gestational diabetes test - we have to do the 2 hour post paradinal )sorry about that spelling!) test. You have fasting blood work drawn, go eat breakfast and have another draw 2 hours later.

My BP runs 107/62 at most of my appts. Dr said to add more salt to my foods (of course check with your Dr first) and that should balance things out.

Hope that all this helps and you feel better!

Liz
