Looking for support!
Hi Everyone!
This is my first post...I had Gastric Bypass December 15, 2008. I've loss over 80lbs so far and still lossing.
I just found out that I'm pregnant on Friday! We are so excited because we have been trying for over 10yrs. We lost two pregnancy in the past. I'm 5weeks and will go this friday for a sonogram.
My question is how's it different being pregnant after WLS? I don't know what to expect or ask my doctors. I'm scared that I will not get enough food or ask the right questions. Please send me any information that would help. Thanks!

First of all, Congrats! :) This is my first pregnancy post RNY, and its been completley different, however ALL pregnancys are different lol. My first suggestion would be to look around for an OB who has experience working with weight loss surgery patients. Someone familiar with the situation will put your mind at ease. Second, make sure you talk to your surgeon and let them know about your surgery. He or she can make recommendations, and may even send a corrospondenc to your ob about your different labs that he recommends. Enjoy your pregnancy and use this board. There are some wonderful people on here who have really helped me through some major issues. :)
Super proud mommy to Dylan, Owen and Sophia Brianne!
This is my first child and it is five years after gastric; however, my advise is be sure you get your vitiamins in....you have to understand you might gain more weight than you want to and you can't fight this....and three...be sure you tell all drs, etc that you have had it. Never be afraid to repeat this. This explains why you might have vitiamin def when they give you blood work etc. Most OBs don't deal with gastric patients on a routine basis, so they forget you might be a little different. Other than that...you are pregnant just like all other non-gastric patients!
I hope this can help you a little bit, good luck and congrats! You will find lots of support on this board...so post away your questions...most likely someone has been through it.

Congrats and Welcome! I don't have any pre/post op experiences since I have only ben post-op and preggers. I am reading "Pregnancy Sucks: When your little miracle makes you miserable." It has a list of foods in it. Plus "What to Expect when Expecting" does too. It also has a little blub about post-op too. Well, at least the 4th edition does.
I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

Congrats and welcome!! I had a pretty good pregnancy. Felt much better. I had to add in carbs of course and make sure vitamins got in. I set my phone alarm for those times but I have done that since surgery. Lots of water. :) Yeah going to bathroom more. Its a great experience. Would not trade it for the world!!
