My baby shower is in one month.  Invites are about to go out with my babies r us registry.  I am worried about the bassinet I chose.  I chose the one that's a pack and play with a bassinet sleeper and changing table inside that is removable.  I know this will come in handy because I can use the pack and play for years to come.  I am torn now, I'm not sure if I should just register for a bassinet and pack and play separately.  Is the pack and play bassinet really going to be convenient and comfortable?

This is the one I chose, anyone use one similar and would like to chime in it would be appreciated.  I guess I'm worried about choosing the wrong thing.   http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3417592

Thanks ladies

I personally liked the bassinet seperately. We had both and the one inside the pack and play only was up to 15 lbs safely which was like 2 months tops. Plus I couldn't find sheets that fit it, etc. So I never used it. I did use it as a play pen twice, but when we traveled we took it and used it as a crib and put her on the bottom of it. So it paid off, but the top portion, the bassinette part didn't for us.

I had one like that with my first baby and I loved it. This time around we have both. I have the pack n play set up in my room and the bassinet set up in the living room.

Take this for what it's worth - not much - but I plan on only getting a P&P, no crib/change table, only a P&P with bassinette/change table attachment.   We have a trailer on a campground where I spend the summer and we go fairly often for weekends in winter so I figure a P&P makes the most sense for us.  Yes, I'm not even pregnant and have decided where my hypothetical child will sleep.  I know I'm a freak ;)

I have both. I had the P&P set up in the living room and it came in handy for diaper changes and naps.  The bassinet stayed in the bedroom until Alex out grew it.

Get the bassinet 2nd hand :)

I bought an Arm's reach co-sleeper and a pack and play. I only used the co-sleeper for the first 5 months and then transitioned Nick to his crib. It was a godsend since I had a csection. Unfortunately, Nick outgrew his pack and play by 15 months. He didn't really seem to like sleeping in it much either but each kid/situation is different ya know. It wouldn't hurt to put both on the register.

We had the P&P and like it.  We used it until E was about 4 months or so, and then put him in his crib.  However, we've never used the P&P at all, ever, since.

Good morning!
We had both, and to be totally honest, we used the pack and play the most, and hardly ever used the bassinet. Plus, we have a really small home, and having both just took up sooo much room! If you get both, you can always hang on to the bassinet until the baby is born and then decide. I have never had a problem exchanging things that were on my registry as long as they weren't used. Good luck!

We got a Graco Trave Lite Crib.  It's basically a P&P only about 20% smaller.  I like it because it can fit through doorways and the P&P doesn't unless you collapse it.  We got it instead of getting a bassinet.  We'll probably end up with a regular size P&P at some point but we're going to stick with this for now.
