walking

Max is 13 months old and only walks if holding my hand or holding something like the couch, his walk and ride, other big toys that he can push around. Will not walk on his own at all, he just drops himself to the floor or refuses to move. He does have a problem of one of his feet turns under slightly but flattens out completely when standing. Shoes on, shoes off, bare foot, its all the same.

So my question is:

At what age did your children start to walk on their own?

Am I just worrying for nothing?

When should I really start to be concerned?

TIA ladies!!!

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it.  Libby walked at 10 months but our friend that was born just hours before her didn't wal****il he was 15+months.  My niece started walking at just shy of 11 months, another friend's baby at 12+ months.  Every baby is different.  He is at least walking furniture and with your help so he will take off before you know it.

Matthew started walking at 9-1/2 months.  But, he is a early walker.  My neice didn't start walking until 15 months old.  The pedi said that anywhere from 12-18 months is normal.  I wouldn't start worrying...your LO is only 13 months old and has plenty of time.  I wouldn't start worrying until he is close to 18 months.

His pedi told me not to worry and that he has met all his milestones fairly early. His foot may be a culprit but it should fully 'unturn' by itself.

Reading all your responses really really helps!!! I am going to try the gold fish bribery though :)

Gotta go because Max is terrorizing the dog right now!!!! Trouble!!!!

I agree with the other ladies that they all seem to walk at their own pace.  Tyson was a little over 11 mos old when he started walking (now he wants to run everywhere LoL), but Krysten, now she was a VERY early walker at 7 mos old.  Sometimes I think that made me put too many expectations on Tyson at times, but he is doing good at HIS pace.

Max is getting cuter by the day!

Danny was 15 mos when he got past the cruising stage. He was so chicken to let go! He always took one or two steps and fell to his knees and took off.

Josh was 12 mos +1 day. He wasn't as fast on his knees as Danny and wanted to keep up =o) He walked on his tip toes for months but he was mobile

What does his pedi say? Has he met all his other milestones at the right time? If his pedi isn't worried at this point, I wouldn't either. My fav question for the doc "Should I be worried yet and when should I start worrying?" LOL

I wouldn't worry every kid does there thing at there own time... My niece is 13 months and does the same thing as ur son... My daughter she walked at 8-9 months... and my sister thought she was doing something wrong cuz my daughter walked so soon... I wi**** would have took my daughter longer...lol shes 22 months now and I can't keep up with her half the time...lol  I just think he's getting use to the idea still he will surprise you one of these days... But don't worry... have a good night..
