Artificial sweeteners?

Technically all sweeteners (including sugar) are chemicals.

Stevia hasn't been studied.  Splenda is sugar bonded with a hydrogen atom.  Aspartame is an augmented peptide.

Splenda is the only one approved by the FDA for use during pregnancy.

I  called my OB's office and they said go ahead and use it. I will ask the OB when I go see her. I know it's used in other parts of the world and no problems. *Will not get on my soapbox about the FDA*

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

I was using no sugar added and sugar free products made with Maltitol, splenda and aspartame ALL the time in 2008 before we started trying to get pregnant.  i read that those 3 artificial sweeteners in particular can cause fetal brain damage.  I switched to organic sources only.  Stevia WOULD fall into that category of organic sources.  Its a combination of organic cane sugar and stevia.  Perfectly safe...  But I would steer WAY clear of ANYTHING that is NOT a natural/organic source of sweetening.
