I figured my last OB appointment would be my last and it was.    My blood pressure was still high and there was a huge snow storm coming so my doc decided to go ahead and "cut the cord"  My husband was able to be there with me.  Noah Thomas Campbell was born Friday Jan 29th at 3:56 pm by c-section. Noah weighed 7 lbs and 3oz and was 18 inches long.   He didn't cry for 2 minutes (which was the longest two minutes of my life).   He had amniotic fluid in his lungs.    The docs were trying to give him a chance to clear it out, but with the weather getting worse by the minute decided it would be best to transfer him to a level two hospital (I was at a level one).  It ended up the roads were so bad they couldn't make it to the level two, but could make it to a level three hospital.  This is a university hospital, which I'm not crazy about the experimenting that tends to go on there.

I did get to hold him for about 20 minutes before they transferred Noah.    Later that night the neonatologist called and said he was doing great with his breathing.  He didn't have to be put on the cpap, and was doing well on oxygen.   He was concerned because Noah had a thick fold of skin around his neck.  He didn't think it was downs syndrome, but we would need genetic testing to make sure.

So all night I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that something may be wrong with my son.  I called at 4 am and talked to the NICU nurse.  He was completely off oxygen and doing great.   I was told that I would be given a pass to the leave the hospital so that I could visit Noah, but that insurance would not approve for me to move to another hospital.

At 8am my MIL called and gave us the terrible news that my FIL had passed away in his sleep.  He had just gotten out of the hospital on Thursday and my MIL just got out of the hospital on Friday.    We are pretty sure he had a massive stroke.

Tom couldn't even get home to be with his Mom because we had 12 inches of snow (very hilly and curvy roads in east TN).

The hospital was going to release me Saturday, but we still couldn't get home. We were able make it to Noah's hospital.   I took the colostrum that I had pumped and got to nurse him.    We also got to talk to one of the Dr.s.   He was naming all these genetic tests that would need to be done.   Noah looks absolutely perfect.   I really can't even tell what they are talking about with the extra skin.  He had a few low blood sugars and some other markers that make them think that he may have an under active pituitary gland.

I was released from the hospital on Sunday.  I came home long enough to pack another bag to go back to Noah.   Since I'm breastfeeding they were going to give me a room and even provide me with food.   Since Noah was still on an IV at the time they told me he still had to stay in the NICU and not in my room.    Luckily, the IV started leaking and his blood sugar had been stable enough they took it out.   I was so happy to finally get to spend the night with my baby boy!

I'm running out of time (got to go to my FIL funeral), so I'll shorten this.   We got to come home today.   They've already done blood work for genetic testing.  We should know the results in a couple of weeks.   We have an appointment with an endocrinologist Friday.  He may end up needing testosterone and/or growth hormone depending on what the results from those test are.

Hannah is absolutely thrilled with Noah.  She's not shown very much jealousy (I'm sure that will come though).   I'm on my Mom's computer, so I don't have any pictures, but I do have the nursery hospital pictures website.

Go to www.Our365.com.  Choose by family.  His B-day is Jan 29, 10.  My last three letters are Cam.  City and state Jacksboro TN.   It asks for two different passwords the first is my customer number 80901289080088.  The other password is camp.

I wish I could just post the pictures here to save all that trouble, but if you want a Noah fix you'll have to work for it lol.

I'll update more later with more pictures.

Thanks for all the support you all have given me lately!

Take care of yourself -- I know what it's like being a new mom and you've got a whole lot on your plate right now.  Don't overdo it (yeah right) -- seriously, try to take care of yourself.
