diabetes
The two week pre-op diet had indicated to me that I have low blood sugar problems. One incident before surgery, and once time after (since june). Now that I'm preggo Ive been noticing that if I don't eat like every 2 hours my sugar will drop. The other day it was down to a 67 again, and i really, really wasn't doing well. I know your supposed to get some sugar in you quick, but sugar right now is a HUGE problem for me. For me to even feel better I have to eat like a 1/2 of a candy bar or drinks a glass of pop. But after i do either, I get really sick to my stomach and experience sorts of dumping syndrome. I'm afraid to start carrying sugar products with me for cases such as this, but I have no clue what else to do. Does anybody know what I can do to equal this out?
You can eat fruit, load up on longer acting carbs (complex carbs), combine that with some protein. Drink milk, eat whole grain/multi grain products. Google complex carbs. Try some whole wheat crackers with some cheese. The key is to combine your complex carbs with your protein at EVERY meal and EVERY snack you eat. Try juice, fruits like a said, suckers, honey for fast acting sugars but to keep that at bay altogether, do the complex carbs w/ protein like I described. And you mention diabetes as your topic but what you are describing is hypoglycemia. Are you sure diabetes is what you have?
Well after I had dropped my first low blood sugar I was told to monitor my sugar, and when I start to feel "off," check my bood sugar and get some sugar into me quick if it's below 100 as it will cont' to drop until I get some sugar into me.
I am lacto, so I can't really tolerate any cheese, and def. not milk. I even tried soy/lacto milk but I still get really sick on them as well. Thanks for the compex carb suggestion I will look that up.

Tropicana makes a 50% less sugar OJ and it works fine to raise my sugar when I need it. You might try that. I am lactose intolerant too, but I've found that I can eat greek yogurt which the nut says is great because even with the sugar it has sooo much protein it isn't harmful to us. I hope you find the combo that works for you.
