28 week u/s today...and got a lil scare..tad long
So today I went to my high risk dr. for a 28 week u/s growth scan. Well, I went with my husband and we went through the u/s as happy as parents could be seeing their lil lady bounce around. Well, don't you hate it when drs/nurses, etc begin to ask you questions which you know they have a point, but your not sure what they are trying to get too. Well that's how this began...
1) how did they give you a due date..(answer...date of my period)
2) on your other u/s...was there an issue with your date (never been off so far)
3) what do you do for a living...
Etc Etc...so I began to wonder why all the questions...something wrong I thought...so the tech lady begins to put numbers in the computer...and says she needs to do some calculations to figure out how big the baby is...so then she comes back and says...let me just take a few more measurements. So I am thinking...okay what's really up...so I causally say...kinda joking trying not to show my fear..."So how bigs this lil girl...she certainly feels large"...she answers, well she weights 2.4 pounds but a bit smaller than we would like....so we need you to come back in three weeks...well of course i just didn't know what to think. So as a bit of relief the dr comes in after reading the results and tells me brain, heart, blood flow are all great...just for some reason her lil belly/admomen area are really small. She says that arms/leg growth are on the smaller part of the scale, but still on the scale. So her belief is that I am just having a tiny baby but to be safe, I am to come back in 3 weeks to confirm the baby grows to their expectations. If not she indicated I would be placed on "restrictions" but didn't mention what all those would be. I also will begin my NST testing at beginning of March.
I felt much relief after talking with the dr...but I am still thinking about all the things I need to do to ensure she grows...I was joking with my mom when telling her...boy I didn't know gastric bellies were hereditary...the last thing I thought was one of my babies would have a small belly!
Positives...this is not going to be a large baby to be pushing out...
If anyone else has had this, would love to hear your stories...
Have a great evening! Stacey

the high risk OB told me my baby is going to be petite, but everything is growing just fine, but she will just be a small baby. i'm OK with that, as long as blood flow and all is good there should be nothng to worry about!

There is a huge margin of error for the ultrasound size measurements! At one ultrasound we were told that our daughter had "quite a big melon" and that she would probably be well over 9lbs if I went full term... just what everyone wants to hear when thinking about pushing out a baby, right?! Anyway, she was born at 41 weeks and was only 6lbs 3oz and with a very well proportioned head. I wouldn't worry! Good luck!!
