Sort of OT: Nursery design help

I'm working on getting the nursery together and everything is coming along nicely. The design scheme is shabby chic and it's been SOOOO much fun shopping and upcycling thrifty finds.

I want to make a mirror similar to the one below but I'm not sure where to put it. I like mirrors as decorations. They make rooms feel bigger, more open, and they reflect light making a room feel brighter without having more lights (which is especially nice during the day when sun's coming through the windows). I used to have a big one over my fireplace before we put the TV up there and got so many complements on it.

Anyways, I'm having trouble figuring out where to pu*****pically, a larger version would go on the wall above a longways dresser... but the dresser in the nursery is the tall chest-of-drawers type and stands about chest-high to me.

I think I still want to put it on the wall above the tall chest. It wouldn't be very functional as a mirror since it wouldn't be in the direct line of sight but neither was the one over the fireplace and people still loved it.

What do you think? Will it look stupid being up there? Any suggestions on where else I could put it? We're building it from scratch so it can be big or small.

when I still lived at home I had a tall dresser (about 4' tall) and I had a horizontal rectangular mirror over it. I could see in it if I were doing my hair or something but it also reflected the things I had on my dresser and the light from the 2 windows across the room. I think that look is cute!

I think it will look fine above the chest of drawers.  You can always move it if you don't like it.  Coincidently, we're also doing shabby chic.  Just got a crib Sunday. I love it!

How about over the changing table so the baby can look at itself while your changing her. We had a mirror over the downstairs changing table with my 8 year old, and he would stare and coo and giggle at himself while I took care of buisness. Sometimes I would go downstairs to use that changing table because he would lay still instead of squirming all over the place lol. Good luck! Btw, what an absolutley adorable idea for a nursery!!

It's such a cute mirror!

I'd put it over the dresser too- wont have to worry about it accidentally falling somewhere where baby is. I have a very short wall between the entrance to my son's room and his bathroom and it would look great there or the wall between his door and dresser (by the switch plate- I have nothing going on there) I saw an adorable dress frame at HomeGoods in white and pink that would look so cute in front of that mirror =o)

Happy decorating!
