I am hoping some of the mom's on here can give me some advice .  Four the past four months my nine year old son gets sick once a month for about a day. He wakes up with a stomach ache, then he gets the horrible rotten egg burps and by the evening he is doubled over in pain until he vomits. The next day if we push foods to quick (even just saltines) we have the same issue. The first time it happened the Doctor thought he had the flu. The second time when it started he had me give him an antacid. The third time he had eaten a couple clementines the day before so I thought it was just to much acid. Then last night it happened again. I can not think of anything different that he has been eating, he is not constipated. The only thing different this time is he has a canker sore  on the inside of his lip. I am going to call the doctor Monday, but I am not sure what things I should request of the doctor, test, medicine, ect. It is just too much to watch my little guy go through this every month. If anyone has any ideas please share.

Thanks for reading,
Emily

Edit/ update- I called the doctor and they said the time it happens to give him pepto  right away and no dairy  products until it passes. They do not want to see him unless it happens again. I am not thrilled because I would like to know why this is going on. I am going to log all of his food and make sure he is regular so that if it happens again I can be armed with info.

Is there a pattern to it? Like always the same day of the week or every 15 days or something like that? Just wondering...

I have been trying to wrack my brain to figure out a pattern. We have not eaten anything different, or anything that he has never had. The first time it happened it was the day before Halloween so a Thursday. The next month it was towards the end of the month on a Sunday. In December it was the sometime during the week before Christmas and this time It happened on a Saturday night. He hasn't been constipated and we home school so I am with my kids 24 hours a day, so if anything traumatic was going on, that would cause this I would know. Know one else in the house ever gets sick. It always starts the same, with a tummy ache in the morning. I wish I knew something I could give him when I see the signs to head it off, so he does not go through the pain and the vomiting.

Thanks for responding,
Emily

With cyclic vomiting like he has (happening at the end of every month if I'm figuring that right), you definitely need to get him some labs done and possibly an endoscopy. There are so many things that it COULD be that he really needs to be tested. Labs to start definitely. I hope your little guy gets better soon!! I hate when kids are sick!

Is he a worrier? I wonder if an ulcer could make him feel like that if it flared up once in awhile. I don't know.
