Very Happy and So Relieved
My RE released me two weeks ago and I had my first regular OB appointment yesterday. I was teary with relief to see and hear the heartbeat--176 bpm. The baby measured 11 w 4 d, and I know (VF) that I'm only 10 w 4 d but they weren't concerned. Baby was squirming, twisting, and moving it's arms and legs. With the exception of Vitamin D, my blood levels are back to normal so I can stop taking the extra iron and B-6 for now. The OB said I would show earlier (I already am), carry lower, feel the baby sooner (I felt Elijah at 14 weeks--also a constant mover), and any problems I might have had in the previous pregnancy, like back pain, will start sooner. Although I'm high risk, he said everything looked great, and I won't need to be seen again for four weeks.
Because I'm older, I have a greater chance of developing preeclampsia and gestational diabetes so they decided to do the glucose tolerance test as a baseline. Oh goodie. An hour after drinking the solution, they drew my blood. On my hour-long drive home, my blood sugar dropped very low very quickly and I had to pull over. Since I'm hypoglycemic, I always have peanut butter crackers and OJ boxes with me, so I downed those. Felt better soon and was on the road again when the doctor's office called to ask how I was feeling. Apparently, the lab alerted them that my blood sugar was only 44 when I left. Same thing happened when I was 6 months pregnant but it dropped into the 30s. All better now except for headache. Sorry this is so long!
I am so glad that everything is perfect. I just had my nurse visit with my OB this past Tuesday. I so wanted them to do something ultrasound or something to know my little one is ok. I have to wait until 2/8 when I see the doctor. Hopefully they will do something to make me feel at ease that the little one is ok!!!
I hope everything continues ok and you have a happy and healthy nine months!!
