My daughter has been sick and I was hoping I wouldn't get it, but I started feeling a sore throat this afternoon. Does anyone know if we can take Airborne or Zicam? I will call the doctor tomorrow but thought someone might know. Also what about cough drops/throat lozenges? I have some ludens that I was giving my daughter but I didn't know if they were ok. Thanks in advance.

I know you cant take airborn, and I don't think you can take zicam.  Airborn has a bad kind of vitamin A in it.  You can take cough drops I know that, and plain Robitussin.  I had a cold for a long time in the beginning, and if you have a sore throat and head congestion you can take Zyrtec.  It's for allergies but made my symptoms much better!  Feel better!

My doc told me any tylenol product was fine. And cough drops are fine too! Hope you feel better.

plain sudafed, claritin and non-menthol cough drops are on my OK list.

Feel better!

Tea with honey and lemon works WONDERS too!

Hot tea sounds so soothing. I know that some herbal teas aren't good to drink, but I would assume peppermint is ok. That's the kind we have.

yep Peppermint is OK with my Dr! So is sleepytime and decaf regular. SHe told me 1-2 cups herbal a day is fine too - just to stay away from the "lactation" ones

That's funny you mentioned the lactation teas cause when I was looking for tea in my cupboard, I found two boxes of mother's milk tea I used when I had my daughter. I thought I better not use them though. I'll save those for when I try to breastfeed again.

Oh and those Vicks "shower soothers" tab thingies are a god send if you are really stuffy! You aren't injesting anything so I would imagine that they are fine. It is lavendar and mint. They look like an over size alka seltzer, you toss one in when you shower and it fizzes and steams away.
