OT- My furbaby-- UPDATE
Update- Thanks so much for the kind words. Butter is home and in the first stage of heart failure. At this point the meds could work and it would give him a little more time. So far they have not worked and his breathing is labored and his heart muscle is 4 times the size of normal. He has fluid in his lungs but they want to wait a day or so to see if the new meds will make a difference. If not, we might need to put my baby to sleep. Not something I want to do, but I canno****ch an animal suffer. I will keep you all updated, thank you so much.
I never had a cat before. When my hubby and I got our own place in 2008 we decided to get a cat. I was nervous. I never bonded with any animal before, other than a ferret who we ended up putting down after 8 years.
My Aunt is a vet tech and had 8 cats. She told me she had the perfect cat for us. A 2 year old male named Butters. He's a fat orange and white little love bug. My husband and I fell in love with him. When we were on our honeymoon, after only having Butters 3 months, my aunt took him in the office for a check up, and we found out he had a very enlarged heart, and had heart disease. My aunt felt horrible but we were in love with our Butter bean. We have been giving him heart meds for a year now.
Yesterday we noticed he was looking a little weak, and breathing really hard. He's been a little depressed for a month or 2 but we moved and a lot of things are going on right now, so we just chalked it up to that.
Today I brought him in, his heart doubled in size from a few months ago and there is fluid in his lungs. Survival is 50/50 right now, and even if he does live tonight, he wont be around for much longer. I don't know what I can do other than pray he gets better, or feels no more pain.
Thanks for letting me vent.

I am so sorry to hear about your kitty. I will keep him in my thoughts. I am a cat lover from way back but I developed allergies to them and have been so sad since I have had to get rid of my last one. They are such wonderful company.
336lbs 6/19/06 - 198 lbs - 6/19/10 138 lbs gone forever!!!
We have our miracle: Jakob Makhi born 4-15-10; 4 lbs. 10 oz. 22" long.
I'm sorry Butters is having so many problems...he's a beautiful cat...very snuggly looking. I hope the meds work and make him comfortable for however much time he has left - and pray that that is at least a few more years.
