Breast Pump recommendations?

Hello,

This is my first baby, so I am unsure about many things...I have really large breasts and have concerns about the baby latching and not being smothered.  Anyways....either way..I know that I plan to pump too.

Does anyone have any recommendations for electric breast pumps, especially for larger breasts?

Thanks!

I used the medela pump in style advanced.  I don't have large breasts, so I don't know about that.   I pumped daily for several months and it was still going strong the last time I used it.    I plan on BF'ing again, so we'll see how much abuse it can take lol.

Medela Pump In Style. I used it with both of my boys and it worked great. Now my sister bought one for her daughter. All 3 of our children were NICU babies. They work great, they are hospital grade. I went through several cheaper versions that just didn't cut it, then I rented a Medela (you can rent them through Medelas website) and I just ended up buying one.
They are the best!

I also used the Medela Pump In Style.  I got it from my cousin, and it had been used on her 3 kids, so they last a long time!  I loved it and it worked great!  It was a double breast pump so I didn't have to switch sides or anything.

I use Medela also and like it very much. They come with medium breast shields, you can buy different sized shields. I ordered different shields on amazon.com.

I was a 40G when I had my daughter and was able to nurse her fine with those big suckers.  I got a medela pump in style and it's the best pump out there!  But honestly, nursing was going so well that I only pumped once a week at first (the first like 2-3 months) and then hated pumping after that.   It hurt, I couldn't get as much milk out as if she nursed, and I felt like a cow with those 2 pumps on my breasts with the sucking motion.  I would wait and see how it goes for you and then buy a pump.   I've heard that if you have your doctor write a prescription for you, there's a good chance your insurance will pay for it or you just have to do a co-pay.  GL!

Hit goal weight of 140 at 13 months out from RNY!! 130 pounds GONE!

I also agree....Medela! That is what I rented from the hospital, what I had later at home, and what they used at work. They sell different size cups/molds to accomodate all breast sizes. You can also work with a lactation specialist while at the hospital and they can help too.

I also recommend the Medela In Style Pump.  I liked the backpack style so much that I plan to buy the same one for this baby.  I also have large breasts; I purchased larger breast shields.  They have a chart you can use but I had a lactation consultant fit me once she realized the size that came with the pump was too small.  Breastfeeding was not a problem, I just couldn't do it no-handed since I needed one hand (fingers in a V) to keep the breast back  from his nose.
