Question
I am just a week and a half post op from getting the roux-en-y gastric bypass surgery. I did have a post op complication of bleeding. One of the surgeons knicked an artery near the lesser curvature of my stomach. Needless to say, my surgery went from laproscopic to open. have all the lap sites and a huge incision from my sternum to my belly button.
Anyways, my question is...my husband wants to know how long we need to wait to engage in our usual sexual activity. I have a paragard IUD, and have had it for about 6 years. I know this is reliable birth control. I don't want to jarred around too much, but would like to keep him happy too. I would appreciate all feedback on the topic. I did not get clear instructions upon discharge. Thanks

I ended up with open as well and my dr, said six weeks...but honestly about week two I was in such miserable shape, I wouldn't have let anyone come near me...and month nature came all at the same time (and I hadn't had a period in about five years)....you might want to ask the dr. to be safe...good luck!
