Hi there!
I baby wear alll the time, and I have a couple favorites. My husband wears the Bjorn, because that's the only one that fits! Ha!
I like the Hotsling and Peanut Shells for pouch slings, and at 17.5 lbs, Lydia still fits in them and can now sit on my hip in them, too. The Baby K'Tan is another realky great one - super versatile, can hold up to 45 lbs comfortably, and the pink one is on sale at their website! This one is wonderful for breastfeeding, too!
A word about sizing ... in a Hotsling, they run really small. I had to get a 4 even though the chart says I am a 3. WIth the K'tan, they run big, so a size smaller is better.
I hope you love babywearing, too!

I love love love the moby wrap. It can be wrapped many different ways, its durable, last long (up to like 45lbs), pretty colors, and its one of the cheapest. I personally didnt like the bjorn because I felt it put too much pressure on my back but with this one it distributes the weight more even. But then again these are the only two I have ever tried.

We used a carrier for Kaitlin, and it was alright.

But we tried something European for Daniel -- and we LOVED it.  In fact, we still have it.  I need to ebay it.

This carrier has a hard back unlike the other carriers.  European research showed that the curvature in the car seat carriers was actually bad for baby backs.  Now, that's not why we chose to go this route, but it didn't hurt, either.  Additionally, it weighs about 15lbs LESS than a car seat carrier, is cooler for baby during summer (it comes with a mesh insert) and can fit directly in a car seat -- but we didn't use it that way.

You carry it like a duffle over your shoulder -- which, granted, will get you any number of strange looks and questions.  I had a person at WalMart accuse me of stealing.  It was winter, and raining, and when, at first, I refused to open my bag to show her what was inside, she about called the cops.  But then I showed her it was a baby carrier and she apologized, told me she thought I was walking out with a sports duffle.  But let me tell you -- because it's on your shoulder rather than your forearm, it doesn't hurt your back to carry -- even when baby is much heavier.  And it can be used as bunting much later -- and we would have if, well, we lived somewhere where bunting was needed.  Let's face it -- I live in NC.

If you're intrigued - go here for more info.  It's really cool, and I'm glad we went this route.

I actually make my own slings. I learned how to make them from the woman who makes these slings: http://www.taylormadeslings.com/  .

I love my slings and I make them for my friends when they ask me to.
