Ovulation Kits

Hey everyone.  I went to my OB yesterday to address some issues that I have been having and wanted to get addressed before TTC.  Well he thinks that I am not ovulating since I have cycles between 19 and 30 days apart.  The thing is I feel myself ovulate and have the normal changes and my cycle usually goes with it. 

For example.  One month I felt the ovulation on day 9 and started on day 19.  On another I felt it on day 14 and started on day 28. 

So he drew a bunch of lab work to check my thyroid and to see if I am ovulating.  He also wants me to do an ovulation kit next month starting  2 days before I think I should ovulate and see if I get a surge. 

So my question is for all of you who have done them.  What are the best ones out there for the money?  I know some are very expensive and was hoping to find a good one for less.

P.S.  He told me that when I am ready to get pregnant he will prescribe some medications, but I want to try on my own first.

I started testing at CD 10 (join fertilityfriend.com - it's free and will REALLY help.) and kept going until I got the positive or I thought that I ovulated (from other signs).

Temping and charting will help you LOTS it did for me. ALso the book Taking Charge of your Fertility (http://www.amazon.com/Taking-Charge-Your-Fertility-Anniversa ry/dp/0060881909/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1264162448&s r=8-1) was a HUGE help for me.

I agree with everything that Liz just said!  Fertility Friend is a wonderful tool :) And I love that book every woman should have a copy!  I used a basal thermonitor and Target brand ovulation sticks ... They worked for me :)  Good Luck to you!

I also saw my OB yesterday and pretty much got the same answer as you.  I really wish he would have done blood work though.  I think I have an estrogen issue.  Anyway, I bought OPKs from Amazon about 2 weeks ago.  I have been using them every evening for the last 10 days or so.  There has been a light on them every day but the first.  It isn't dark though, so I have obviously not ovulated yet??  Who knows.  Any ways, Amazon, Ebay and testsforless.com are good places to start.  My OB wanted me to start doing my temps every morning and come back in a few months so we could tell if I have been ovulating.  He said that is the best and cheapest way to find out.  Good luck :-)

Ok, I am not an expert like Ann or Shari but here is my two cents.

I used fertility friend and basal thermometer every morning. If you vary so much on when you ovulate, you will have to be using OPK's all the time. I hope Shari will give you some advice on this one.

I never had any issues with any  of the tests I bought. I tried for 5 years so you can imagine how many I've used. I've trid the CVS brand and the Wal-Mart brand and never had any issues.

i have the same prob .. my LH is low and i have mthfr everything else is normal so i just dont ovulate or have uber long cycles like this month im on cd 35 ..i could take clomid it usually helps me ovulate but on cd 22 i love fertilitycommunity.com i really met awsome women still friends with 2 yr later learned soo much there .as for opks i use answers brand cause i got 20 for 16 bucks  best of luck ... baby dust to all
