hello ladies

im having a litle problem with fiance...I wanted to get the twins ears pierced this up-coming saturday..he agrred...now he is backing down he says he feels sorry for them, i told him its better now since they already had their first round of shots and being that they will be turning 3 months this friday i told him it should be ok.
I had my 10yr old daughters ears pierced at 2 months...he is going against it and called him mother and told her how he felt now she is telling me to wait.
Im mad just because he has to consult with her about everything and then she makes me feel like an idiot that does not know anything.
I felt like telling her yesterday " i raised 2 kids on my own and I did a good job"
But I didnt want to be desrespectful.

Im still going to take the twins on Sat to get their ear pierced and I hope it doesnt back fire on me.

How long did you wait to get your lil girls ears pierced?

Since i dont have a little girl, i can't comment on my own child.  However, my sister pierced both of my nieces ears by the time they were 3 months old.  What is the reason your fiance wants to wait?  Just because he fears the pain for them?  They will barely notice it!

Oh if you take them post pics! :)

My family's rule was always to wait until they asked to have them done. If I have a little girl I'm not sure what I'll do. I don't see anything wrong with getting it done now as long as the Dr says its ok

Liz

PS - how are you doing?

My husband and I have had this discussion.   He is making us wait until she is older.
I had mine done young so I didn't exactly agree.   Now I think when she is older we could give it to her as a b-day present and make a big deal out of it.   I do think it should be a mutual decision between your husband and you.   I might not agree but it is a big decision we should agree on it.   Or just tell him not to go and he won't have to see the short tears! :)

If i had a little girl I would have pierced her ears by 2-3 months.  Before she got to fiddling with them and keeping them irritated.

Well from my family expierence here. Mom mom pierced my sisters ears at 8 months and they got infected because at that age she kept messing with them. So with me she got them done at 3 months, no problems cause I never paid any mind to them (she says I didnt even cry when they did them because they were feeding me at the same time). However, when I turned like 7 they closed because we found out the hard way I was allergic to any jewlery not at least 24 carat gold. Got them repierced at age 9 (of my own choice) and man did it hurt, I still remember the pain to this day...I cried for about 10 minutes and the pain lingered for about 30 minutes. Got a second hole at 17 and jeeze did it still hurt...enough to make me tear (I was holding back tears to not seem like a baby).

So with my baby girl, hers will be done around 3 months. BTW how are those precious joys doing? Did you all get the puking and digestive problems under control?

Hi Simone
They are doing good..better than before.
They still have to see GI doctor a few more times but they say other than twin A's stomach looking a little larger than normal she is doing great.
Baby B is good her tummy looks fine and the only problem she is having is the GERD well both of them do.
But I guess with the age its getting better I get 2 extra hrs of sleep now YAY!..lol.

I'm originally from Brazil, so once in a while I get surprised by some cultural differences.

Reading your post it comes to my mind that over there a good mom of a lil girl MUST have the baby girl's ears pierced on her first or second day of life, at the maternity.

It is actually customary that the grandma or someone from the family takes care of getting a mini baby earring, usually a tiny little ball, in 18K gold, so the baby's ear won't reject it... something about gold.

The nurses are the ones that pierce the newborn ears.

In fact it would be weird to wait to have them pierced later. Honestly, the dads there wouldn't have a chance in having a saying on this custom .
