Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS Test) Review and Gender Results
I won't go into detail about CVS look it up on the net if you're curious.
The gist is they took a sample of my placenta to check for Down Syndrome, etc. Last pregnancy (I was 35 then) I had an amnio.
If I had to do one again, I think it would be the CVS test.
DH and I switched to an HMO this year. I felt forced to see this one perinatologist because he was the only one in the area. He really packs in those patients! I read online that the wait is sometimes 4 hours. We waited 2.5.
The procedure was a little stressful. There is a chance they could touch something they aren't supposed to but it went fine.
Afterward I had to take antibiotics, an antiinflammatory that prevents contractions (and knocks you out) and blood pressure medicine (not sure why).
The results were supposed to come back in 7-10 days but it took 14! I spotted and had to be on bedrest for those 2 weeks. That sucked.
Perfectly healthy baby BOY! Team blue! Yay!
I've known the whole time. I dreamt that Laurel was a girl over and over. The same with this one.
All in all, CVS test was better but more stressful than an amnio and you do get your answers a lot earlier in the pregnancy.
