Pregnant before surgery?!?!

I'm 4 weeks away from surgery.  My hubby and I didn't use a condom last night after sex so I'm concerned and looking into the "WHAT IF'S"....

Has anyone heard of a woman being pregnant and then going through gastric bypass surgery?!?!

They will not perform the surgery if someone is pregnant.  

It would be very unsafe for the unborn baby.

You really need to make sure you aren't pregnant before you have the surgery.    When is your period due?  

My periods are extremely irregular so the chance of me getting pregnant are slim (we've been trying) so I'm really not very worried, just concerned. Thanks for your response.  

I'd wait a couple of weeks and then take a home pregnancy test.    I would even be testing the morning of your surgery if you hadn't started your period by then.

The hospital made me take a pregnancy test the morning of my surgery.

They will give her a pregnancy test before surgery. And she just said they had been trying, so not really an accident right?

Just to clarify, we "had" been trying 6 months and haven't been sexually active since then.  

My doc did a blood test a week before surgery and one was to check for pregnancy, so you'd think that would pick up a pregnancy if it did happen. Good luck to you in whatever happens.
