So, I bought a bunch of OPKs off of Amazon, the dipstick ones.  Now, I need help understanding.  Wednesday just the control line showed up, Thursday there was a faint test line and then the control line, Friday (tonight) there was a faint test line and control line.  According to the package this means negative.  So do I keep taking them until the line becomes darker??  Should we be having sex right now?

Thanks guys!

Curious... How long are your cycles? And what cycle day did you start opk's? Yes, keep doing them until you get a + reading. It is good you are doing them in the evening as the LH surge is usually stronger then. A + will warn you about 12-36 hours ahead of o time to get busy. As for the sex question. Well, it would depend on your cycle length and approximate o day...but remember that sperm can live for up to 5 days. They can be up there and waiting for your egg. I would suggest that if you are getting darker lines on the opk, then the + will be here soon and it can't hurt to have sex. Another sign you can watch for is egg white like cervical discharge. Right before o our discharge becomes more sperm swimmable and is either really wet or egg white like. The rest of the cycle it is like lotion, sticky or dry. Good luck!! Shari

My cycles are normally 32-34 days.  Today is day 13, I originally got the faint line on day 11 and 12.  I will definitely do another OPK tonight and see if it is getting any darker.  I guess I could probably keep the two previous tests to compare to??

Sounds like you should get a positive in the next day or so.    I would have sex every other day until you do get a positive.
I tested twice a day because I was afraid I would miss the surge!
Good luck!

I looked at your chart. Based on a 32 day cycle the earliest you would probably ovulate is cd 16. You can have almost positives for several days before o. Let me give you the scoop. Every woman has a unique luteal phase to them. That is the time from o to af. It can be as little as 10 days (if it is less than 10 it is considered a lp defect) and it can be as long as 16 days. So...your o date will probably be somewhere between cd 16 and cd 22 based on that theory. You should keep testing until you get a true positive. It will be pretty obvious. Usually the line is so dark you will not question it. That should be somewhere between cd 14 and cd 20, or so. It is a total myth that all women o on cd 14. A lot of women miss their window because of this. You might have thought your opk was close and stopped testing and missed your window. I am going to be curious now so please pm me and let me know how it is going okay. My cycle was 34 days and I o'd on cd 24. If I would have been having sex around cd 14 I never would have gotten pg.

Thank you so much!  I will definitely keep you up-to-date.  I bought like 40 OPKs and 10 HPT so I think I should be covered.  Or, at least I hope so!

Here is a picture of the OPKs I have taken. I have taken them all in the evening, except one and I don't remember which one.  I started taking them last Wednesday and I guess I should have dated them.  I didn't realize I was going to be an addict of peeing on an OPK tho LOL
The one on the right is the most current and that was done last night.  Today is CD 15 and lucky me has developed ANOTHER case of bacterial vaginosis so I told DH that he will just have to wear nose plugs we can get the task done.  Sad huh?  It is getting to be pretty depressing so I am going to call my OB today and have a chat.  I usually see my PCP for BV and it just keeps coming back, almost monthly.

None of those look positive to me. I would keep testing. If you have that many then like Beth said 2x a day is a good idea. Keep baby dancing every other day at least and you will be covered. I never had good luck with those tests...never got a true positive. A lot of girls use them fine. As soon as I switched to the answer brand (I bought them at walmart 20 strips for about 17 bucks) I got positives at the right times. But, keep up the testing and see how it goes. Good luck. Shari

I used those OPK's this time around and never got a really dark line- They were all faint. We took a guess based on my cycle length and previous positives and we were right- but I never did get a really dark line. If there are not spperm count issues than every day would be great. Otherwise, go every other day.

Good to know, thank you.  I just posted a picture showing the lines I have gotten.
