Very worried all of a sudden

I am 10 months out from RNY and my surgeon recommended waiting at least a year before getting pregnant...In the past I have had infertility issues and a miscarriage so my husband and I decided to start trying last month even though there was a few months before my one year out because we weren't sure how long it would take for me to get pregnant, but we ended up getting pregnant the first try and now I am very worried that I have made a mistake and that I will not be okay and this baby will not be okay.  I guess I need some reassurance from other RNY'ers who have been or are going through a pregnancy before the recommended time to begin ttc.  Did I make a mistake?

hey, i was in a similar situation we got clearence from the dr to start because of fertility issues.  we got preggers before we ment to and so far, the only issue is im still losing weight and thats a concern.

the baby will always get what it needs, just continue to take ur vits. and drink plenty and eat healthy, god will handle the rest.

I got pregnant by suprise at 11 months post-op. I had/have PCOS and had tried for 8 years to get pregnant with no luck then bam I was pregnant w/o even trying. Everything went well no complications at all with me or baby resulting from the RNY. I now have a healthy happy 7 week old. There are people who get pregnant just 2 and 3 months out from surgery and do just fine. You will need to be monitored closer but that's about the only difference. The baby is like a parasite( my Dr's choice of words not mine, lol) and it will get what it needs at your expense so make sure you take care of yourself and I'm sure you and baby will be just fine. congrats! first of all... I wanted to wait until I was after 18 months out, a condom broke and I was pregnant just about 4 months out from surgery. I was 519 when I had my surgery and 412 when I got pregnant. I freaked out I think worse then you are. I got better with time, the doctors are on my side and support me. I am doing what I am suppose to and all is well. Oh and did I mention I got to feeling better about being pregnant and then found out I was having twins. I freaked out even more... But I wouldn't worry to much. I noticed this happens to a lot of people on here. See your doctors and they will tell you what to do, more vitamins, up ur cals a bit and carbs. Other's on here will help you more...take care :)

I was the same as you.  10 months out and I got pregnant.  My surgeon said wait a year as well.  I planned on it..but somehow God had other plans.  I was 15 pounds from my goal weight so my surgeon thought I would be fine.  I was and the baby was too.  I gained 45 pounds and the baby was 8pounds 11oz.  lost all but 10 pounds of it.

Now I am over 4 years out and on my second post op baby.  So far I have gained maybe 2 pounds with this pregnancy, but I will gain and lose the same couple of pounds.

Good luck and I am sure you will be fine.  Just make sure you are getting all your protein and vitamins in.

take care,
Bambi

I'm in almost the same position as you!  I'm just trusting that God will take care of both me and the baby.  This was obviously in His plan!!

Your baby is NOT a mistake, sweetie!!  When's your first drs. appointment?  We have an early US on Tuesday and my first prenatal appointment is on Wednesday.

I was 7 months post op and found out I was surprisingly pregnant. I was shocked and scared to death. I still worry, but at 27 weeks pregnant, I'm feeling more confident. I was assured by everyone involved (surgeon, OB, etc) that all would be fine. They are monitoring me and the baby closely to ensure he's growing appropriately. You did not make a mistake, you made a miracle!!
