Vision problems

I called the clinic I belong to but they are only taking emergency calls because it's technically a holiday but they are still working.

Anyway, I just wanted to see what you all thought about my symptoms.

last night I had like a pulled muscle on what seems all of my left side. My left side of my head hurt, my left side of the jaw hurt, left side of the neck felt strained and my left arm including shoulder felt sore, also like a pulled muscle.

TODAY, we went to get some food cause I was just really tried and I didn't want to stand in the kitchen to cook anything and I noticed that I couldn't see the last letter in the words I was trying to read with my left eye. My husband asked if I wanted to go to the emergency room but the hospital is so far and I just didn't want to go and have them sent me home. Well, we drove home and when we got home I noticed that I lost my peripheral vision on my right eye .. it was just all blurry if i tried to see anything on my right periphery.

SO, what can all this mean? I looked up the symptoms on webmd but it gives me a list of things and I really am not that objective to look through them and say yeah that sounds like what it might be.

Should I just wait until Monday to go in and get checked or should I go the emergency to make sure it's nothing?

Is your our clinic is taking emergency calls?  If so, I would call them.   When my BP was high at the Dr.s they wanted to know if I'd had any vision problems.  Do you have a way to take your BP?

Maybe call and talk to a labor and delivery nurse at the hospital you are delivering at?

It may be a mirgraine (I have some of the same symptoms with migraines), but since your pregnant it's best not to assume anything.

I was reading about hte possibility of vision problems in pregnancy because of the change in blood pressure, blood volume etc. I Agree with the PP call the Dr office and talk to the OB on call. IF you have a walmart or CVS or something like that nearby go take your blood pressure at one of those machines just to rule it out..Best to call the Dr though.

Best of luck and keep us posted!!

Please get checked. One sided stuff like that reminds me of symptoms of a stroke and might not have anything to do with pg. Keep us posted. Shari

I'm with Shari - I was getting ready to say the same thing...that the one sided part could be signs of a stroke or even heart attack - especially going down your neck and shoulder.  Don't forget - women often have different symptoms of a heart attack than men.  A heart attack also can be silent...you'll have some symptoms and feel like crap, but not really sure what it is...it does NOT mean you keel over on the floor in agony.  Younger women w/no heart problems can also have heart attacks...it's not an 'older persons' problem.

Please go get checked just to make sure everything's OK.  God forbid it is a stroke or heart attack, the sooner it's caught, the more they can minimize the damage.

Let us know what's up...and I hope it's something as simple as a weird pregnancy thing.

I"m really tired but all the symptoms are gone. I plan on mentioning it to the doctor on Tuesday. I was freaked out by what happened but at the same time I just didn't want to make a big deal by going to the hospital or telling the clinic it was an emergency so they would see me. Since I didn't faint or anything and my vision is back to normal now I figure it won't hurt to just wait until my appointment.

I would call the office first thing in the AM. Don't wait until Tuesday. What you are describing could be signs of preeclampsia. Do you have any way to check your blood pressure at home?

If you have any of the same symptoms again, go to the ER.

OK. I can go to the pharmacy to check my blood pressure. I'll do that today.I'll try calling the clinic again on Monday and I'll tell them it's an emergency if my blood pressure is off when I go check it today otherwise they won't see me. But I'll just wait until Tuesday if my blood pressure is normal and I don't have any other symptoms.

I'll make the trip to the ER if I notice anything like my arm hurting again or my vision issues from the the other day return.

Good plan?
