I know this is probably brought up a million times on this board, and I tried to search but found nothing, I am horribly constipated, and need to know what I can take with the RNY and baby on the way.  Im 13 almost 14 weeks.  Any ideas?

I am 13 weeks and horribly constipated as well.  As in...I've been severely impacted (that was not fun) and don't go unless I use an enema..and even that isn't much.  My doctor just keeps saying drink more water and use glycerin suppositories.  They don't really work for me.  So if you get any good advice let me know!  Btw I also take stool softeners as well.

I would eat Fiber One cereal. It has always worked for me!

You can take Colace while pregnant.  Drink plenty of water and eat fiber one bars....that is what helped me.

my dr told me to drink plumsmart light prune juice every day.  My dr also told me to drink lots of water and I can try milk of magnesia.  Honestly some weeks all that seems to work and some weeks it really doesnt.  (I'm 24 weeks )

I am also sooo constipated. I have tried colace , drinking more water, fruit juices, fiber tablets, and nothing has helped. I recently went to my WLS and he swears by Probiotics. I purchased a bottle from their office,   brand was Bariatric Advantage about $27. I have to say that is has helped a little, but I am far from normal.

I am in this club too and I desperately want out.  I started having severe constipation issues by 8 weeks which surpised me because it was way later with DS.

For me I started with  stool softener and that didn't work so I switched to miralax and that appears to be sort of working.  I have to do enemas every so often still.  I added fiber to my diet but fiber alone does not do the trick.

Good luck it is a constant battle for me.

Bless you.

I'm in this club too. Be ready for TMI. I have been backed up for so many days. Tried colace...nada, apple juice...nada, more water...nada, more fiber...nada. Well two nights ago my stomach was hurting like hell so I took some maylox without thinking..2 tbsp...(absolutely fine in pregnancy but not 100% sure if it is after our surgery). Well sure enough the next morning I cleaned myself out. I went potty 4 times within 2 hrs and I am positive there was nothing left..hell I even felt like I lost some weight lol. According to my mom (who is a nurse) it was the magnesium sulfate in it that made me poop, so maybe you can find that straight. Even this morning right after having breakfast I had to go and I had a usual breakfast of an egg omlet with cheese and toast, only thing new was some cranberry juice (so either that stuff really worked or try cranberry juice lol).

Good luck!
Simone
