Thanks for sharing Casey! Definately let me know how it goes! So you lost 6lbs the first trimester? Thats great! That is what I am thinking will happen with me.  With my first 2, I only gained 3lbs each during the first trimester. The second trimester I gained 4lbs with my first, and 15 with my 2nd, and then gave birth by the 3rd with each. Hopefully I will still lose in the first trimester and be a few pounds within my goal weight. Let me know how your pregnancy goes! Hope your doing good!

I, also, had RNY surgery in April of 09.  I spoke with my surgeon in early Nov. and he gave me the clearance to go ahead and try to get pg because of my age (41 yo).  I don't think any of us expected it to happen so quickly.  I'm almost 7 weeks now and due in Sept.  I've been horribly sick...much worse then I was with my previous pg.  but I feel "full" and bloated so I was shocked to see that I had lost 5 lbs in the last couple of weeks when I stepped on the scale yesterday.

Good luck with your decision!

Thanks for sharing! That is amazing that you lost 5lbs and your pregnant! That is what I suspected would happen during the first trimester. I never really gained much with my kids, 10lbs with my first, and with both, the first trimester I only gained 3lbs with each. So I am pretty confident that I will either lose weight or not gain much during the first trimester, and I always give birth by my 3rd trimester. So I would be done with my pregnancy right around my 18month mark and maybe I can still lose my baby weight and the last few pounds I wanted to lose! HOPEFULLY!

Hi Michele! This is also my first time to this forum, and I am so glad you posted. We are in a similar boat, and I'm not quite sure where I'm going right now. I had my RNY last Feb, and my husband is due back from deployment in May. I thought I had it all figured out, that we would try to get pregnant when he returned home, but now I'm just not sure. I'm still losing, and my surgeon back in Kansas said wait two years that's when I should be stabilized. My concern is I turn 40 this year and I just hate to wait much longer, however, I'm afraid to get preg. now and put the baby at risk.  I've never been preg before, and I'm having other issues with ovarian cysts, so it's sorta a mess right now. My husband wants us to wait now until the 2 year mark. I cringe at the idea of going back on birth control.. ugh! We're at Fort Carson now, and don't have a surgeon here to talk to. My PCM here went TDY, of course, so I'm just like UGH!!
Anyhow, questions, questions! Sure glad there are so many wonderful ladies on here that have paved the way and are so willing to share their experiences.
I'm sure I'll have more to report as this year progresses.
Take care, Martha.

Hi Martha! Wow, we really are in the same boat. My husband came back this May and is scheduled to leave this June again. I want to get pregnant before he leaves because then it will be another year before I can get pregnant again. By then, I might not feel up to it. I totally understand what you mean about not wanting to wait or go on birth control. Have you ever been pregnant at all? I had friends who had cysts and could not get pregnant right away, so it might take a while. I feel like waiting 2 years is pretty long. My surgeon that I had my surgery through said 18 months. Well, I am almost 11 months out. By the time I get pregnant I will be a year. I am currently almost at goal. My goal is 150 and this morning I was 170 and I am on a losing streak. I usually lose 10/12lbs after my period, so I should be 160 +/- within the next week or so and then I will only be 10lbs from goal. I figured that is not so bad. I want to be under 140, because that is the weight I should be to be in the "normal" range and not overweight, but I can settle for 150. If I don't get pregnant now waiting another year is just too long for me. I can work on losing that last 10lbs after the baby. You can email me if you want! I am at Fort Benning, GA.

Good luck and keep me posted!
