trouble with my ob!!!
hey ladies. i had my 15 wk appt. today and i always have a bad experience when i go to that stupid office. I feel like my dr & the office SUCKS!!! he is not sensitive or attentive at all to the fact that i had bariatric surgery just one year ago, and not even a year out when i became pregnant. They did labs once in November and that's it. They never asked about the surgeon, nutritionist, or my medical records from my surgeon. Just not a bit of interest and I feel like they overlook things. I'm just very upset... his staff sucks they are not even helpful in explaining to me the insurance costs. I'm 21 so there are alot of things I am not aware and they put me on a payment plan for I don't even know what!!! and when I asked to explain, it was no help. And I cannot find a suitable OB that has had a bariatric patient. I don't know what to do. I'm very upset, and I feel helpless. :(
I am so sorry that you aren't happy with your OB. I would 'shop around' and see what you can find. MAybe call your surgeons office and see if there is one that they can reccomend. Also check out your insurance comapny's website or book. I LOVE my OB but it took me 3 to find one that I did like
GOod luck! Oh and if they aren't explaining things like billing clearly enough, ask to see the insurance person or office manager

I agree with previous posters that you should consider finding a new doctor. When I was pregnant with my son I was only 24 and naive in many ways. I didn't care too much for the care I received but didn't know I had the option to switch doctors.
Things never really got good with me during the pregnancy and I ended up having a lot of sadness following my son's birth and held that for a long time. I felt like I had to get pg again so I could do it all over and have a good experience. You need to do what makes you happy. I would have so much remorse when my friends would talk about their doctors and birth stories.
You most likely will not find a doctor schooled in post WLS patients. My current doctor doesn't treat me much different at all. But I am okay with that because he and his whole staff are just great. I told him about the potential for vitamin deficiencies and he said okay let's do a blood panel. It was very reassuring.
If you are open to switching doctors, my advice would be to start at what hospital you want to deliver at. I picked a hospital and then found all the OBs that delivered there and narrowed it from there. With my son being born at 34 weeks it was important that I selected a hospital that had at least a special care nursery if not a NICU. The hospital websites typically have an option to search doctors and they have profiles with pictures and everything. After that I wanted a male doctor because I am most comfortable with male physicians. Then I found the ones closest to my house and I asked friends if they used that practice.
Good luck with your search if you do in fact decide to switch!
