Men @ baby showers?
on 1/13/10 11:44 pm - Flowery Branch, GA
With my first child, we invited men... namely my dad, DHs dad, grandfathers, boyfriends/husbands of friends, etc. and had a really fun cookout/baby shower complete with wine and beer (I think my mom may have even made a couple of pitchers of margaritas). My husband was also in attendance obviously. It was fun to open gifts with him while many of the men talked manly stuff on the back porch. Some even participated in the brief games we played. The primary reason for doing this was to have a nice little (okay, big) party in celebration of the upcoming baby.... receiving more gifts than we would have had it been only women was an added bonus.
Well... I was 19 then and didn't have much concern for what was considered tasteful, traditional, or proper.
I really want to do this again, but this time around I actually have more respect for etiquette standards and don't want to end up looking tacky.
What are your thoughts on showers like this? I'd love to hear from people both for and against them.

I know my MOm and family and mine will be a surprise and women. It's what we do. Hubby will be around at first I'm sure and will then go off to hang whereever the men are then come back to load up the car and get me. That's what happened for my Bridal Shower.
MY theory always is to get togheter all the family and friends whenever possible!
We both have two sets of parents and it makes for alot of family...we each come from LARGE families.
As of right now our shower is huge and its mainly family.

My baby shower will be co-ed. (3.27.10) The recent ones (over the last three years) have all been co-ed. I think it adds a different touch and it changes the enviroment ALOT.
