Hello Ladies!
I am 19 months post-op.  Stopped taking the pill 9 months post-op.  Got married in October and have been trying the natutal way since. Trying more since October by just ok I think its time to ovulate lets plan this! So anyway I had an abnormal period last month. With spotting for 5 days then 2 days of period. And it begun on 21 days after last period.  Usually opposite so I made a gyn appt.  She said might be just stress or my body changing but sending me for blood work on the 1st day of my cycle which should be here in the next 3-5  days.  Also she gave me a script for clomid and told me to start that this cycle too.  Well its been 24 days since last period and this morning I had some clear discharge with bloody streaks thru it....took a hpt and was negative. Was hoping for a positive but I guess my period is on its way.   So ladies I was looking around and decided this is the site I need to be on since it helped me thru my journey with WLS I know it will help me now!!

Clomid worked for me to regulate irregular periods- Are you planning on doing any ultrasounds to help pinpoint ovulation? Otherwise, get some ovulation predictor kits and start using them to help time things- With the kits and clomid I have always been successful. Not necessarily the first month we tried, but within a couple of months. You can always try temp charting too, which was always a little too much work for me, so I relied more on the previous methods, but I have read a lot about it in books like Taking Charge of your Fertility. I would recommend that book if you haven't already read it. Good luck with everything! This is a great place to talk about the road to pregnancy- There are so many wonderful members with lots of experiences.

I was going to wait for my period to come before I get the kits because of course I have my fingers crossed that I wont need them or the clomid lol.  I agree about the temp thing I am so half asleep I know I would end of forgetting alot of the time so I am gonna go for the ovulation kits and try the clomid.  I havent read the book thanks for the info I will be sure to pick it up this weekend! Thanks for your help and I am so glad we have this site!

Welcome.  I am not on much, just to help out the TTC bunch because I have been around the block over and over.

At any rate -- a strange period after just starting to try naturally happens.  Were you using condoms before that?  I even asked my OB about it because we used condoms and then when we started trying, my period changed.  I had some spotting that stopped and they became shorter, etc.  He said that there are actual studies that a woman's cycle changes slightly when there is an introduction of actual sperm to the environment.  Kind of like your body adjusting.  Sounds kind of hokie, but he is a pretty good doctor and it came out of his mouth!

Also, beware of clomid if you are ovulating on your own.  It actually can be detrimental to women who don't have ovulation problems by thining the lining of the uterus and drying up cervical mucous.  Technically, you should probably be trying 6 months or more before going to meds anyways.  For most women, it will happen in that time frame and the less interference the better...

If you want a good site for TTC, though, sign up for Fertility Friend.  Start temping and use OPKs and you will most likely be knocked up in no time.  Good luck.

Have you done an ovulation test?

Also I recommend not just having sex when you think you are fertile.  Both my daughter and baby #2 were conceived during my period.  I also was eating a lot of yams those months.

I also recommend the ovulation strips.  You can get them at Walmart.  Although most people get better readings in the afternoon using these, I always got my best results in the mornings.  I'd start using them around day 12 or so once a day, and then when the test line started getting darker, I would start using them twice a day.  It really helps to pinpoint your ovulation much better.  They don't work for everyone though.

And welcome to the board!  Good luck.

Hello.  It took a few  months for me on Clomid recently before my bean took!  I had very iregular periods, mostly non at all, and the Clomid really helped get them on a regular cycle.

My doc would not put me on the Clomid with out requiring an unltrasound each month to see if my folicals were developing properly, how many , and what size they were.  This also took the guess work out of when do I ovlulate becasue on the months that I had good folicals then I would ge the HGC shot and I knew 100% the day that I would ovulate.

I highly recomend makeing sure you get the ultrasounds.  For a few months I was not even producing any folicals and would not have know that with out the ultrasounds.  This helped them adjust the doseage for my clomid.

Good luck and keep us posted.  I was 5 years in the making before I finally got lucky!
