Birth defects in post-WLS babies

Anyone have any good resources for info on this???  I'm going to be 42 when this baby is born so I'm obviously concerned about the age factor.  Just wondering how much added risk the WLS adds to it.

TIA!

I have never heard of adding.  Everything I heard was lessening.

Obese women have a higher instance of children with neural tube defects.

I'm 6 months pregnant with baby #2 and both of my pregnancies have been post op. My son is a very healthy, active, 3 y/o with no birth defects. I had him in 2007 after an unexpected pregnancy that began when I was only 7 mos pos op. He was on the small side but otherwise fine. I was 33 when Josh was born and will be 36 when his brother arrives. They're following his growth and development more losely due to my age, but everything has been fine so far. I'm looking forward to having another healthy little boy in April.
Hope this helps a bit.

WEll, there's the chance of ketosis-added defects.. but that's easily avoidable by watching diet and drinking a proper amount of fluids.

I'm really thinking that's it..  but hey, I've been wrong before..

I haven't heard of any!  congrats too! I want one more and if it goes my way I will most likely be 41 or very close when/if I have another.

Congratulations!  I was 45 when my son was born and I'll be 47 when I have this little one.  WLS added NO risks as far as genetic abnormalities and/or birth defects--all age-related.  Elijah will be 17 months old on Friday and he is perfect, no problems whatsoever.

Thanks everyone!  So reassuring!  I've been doubling up on my prenatals so I think I should be pretty much covered vitamin wise and I'm doing good on carbs.  In fact, I'm probably not getting enough protein in since I'm so consciously trying to get in carbs.
