How soon did you get morning sickness

Just a quick question...how soon did your morning sickness start?  I am wondering if nausea starts sooner after surgery than before.  I have been trying to get preg for 1.5 years w/no success.  I started feeling sick a few days ago.  I had a neg test today so figure last month didnt result in pregnancy, but have been trying again this week.  Not sure if this nausea is from getting pregnant a few days ago...or just a stomach bug.  any ideas?

It's probably just PMS causing the nausea unfortunately.  Since I started TTC, I'm not sure if it's just because my weight stablized or I'm looking for symptoms but zOMG - it's like I took a steroid that gives me SUPER PMS.   Nausea, fatigue (exhaustion is a better descriptor), gas, bloating, food tastes funny, headaches, mood swings, waking up sweating (could be from the soy isoflavones), insomnia... shall I go on? lol  This has been the last 3 cycles.  Before then, since I was 11 (I'm 33) PMS has been (IF I had anything) smelly gas for a day or 2 before AF arrives and hubby says I have convos with him in my head and get mad when I reference them and he doesn't know what the hell I'm talking about. lol

I have joked (and sometimes, like now, only partially) that I'm thinking about gaining the weight back just to have some semblance of a normal life.  I get varying degrees and number of symptoms every day from pretty much 1-2 DPO to AF.  2 weeks per month is a long time to be miserable.  I won't do it though since my surgery cost me $12K out of pocket and I refuse to flush that money down the toilet.

Anyway, all to say, you're not alone, I keep being CERTAIN I'm pg and AF rears her *****y, ugly face again.  I really like the Actively Trying board on babycenter.com, they've got a lot of really knowledgable women there who have educated me on various herbal/vitamin regimens, new things to try and when nausea is just PMS and not pregnancy.

It's probably not what you wanted to hear, but I hope that helps :)

With my first pregnancy I never really had morning sickness, although TTCing can cause some of the same symptoms, as I found out. This time around I went straight for the clomid and got pregnant the first try- I had nausea starting about a week after I got a positive OPK- which was different than my first. But then went I went for my first appt it was because I was carrying twins. But I believe that you can have real nausea sooner, but differentiating it from pms is really hard. I tried not to get too worked up about it because I didn't want to get my hopes up. The 2WW sucks! Have you tried something like Clomid? It eventually helped with my first pregnancy so I went straight for it the 2nd time around. I know meds are not always ideal, but it's so worth it to have a successful pregnancy!

I had no sickness or fatigue for 2 weeks after my BFP.. I think my body had to recognize that there was someone else in the picture...LOL. After 2 weeks it hit me like BAM!. I could only sleep and eat soup. I was so sick. I didnt feel better until around week 16.

Since 2/12/08. I have went from 364 to 210. Thank You RNY!

My MS set in about 2 days after conception with this pregnancy... I knew I was pregnant instantly although I didn't get a postive HPT until 13 DPO. (3 days before my missed period)

Good luck!

I knew I was pregnant when I was nauseous for 4 days in a row. I was about 5 weeks pregnant... so what's that, like 2-3 weeks post conception? Something like that.

About a week or two after conception with both. Couldn't stand things that I normally do (not even the smell) ex: protein shakes, veggie burgers. And the extreme fatigue started at that time too. I never vomited but felt nauseous a lot of the time.

Thank you all for your info.  I really appreciate it!!  I am just guessing it is a stomach bug :(

According to my ovulation tests I had a LH surge on Dec 14, then started my period right on time on the 29th.  Had another LH surge this morning so assume will ovulate w/n 24-36 hours.  I guess I wouldn't have had a surge if I was already preg...plus the neg on the PG test adds to my doubts as well.

I am still feeling sick...so badly in fact that I had to leave work early because just couldn't make it.  I wish the PG test was wrong, but if I was preg I am SURE it would have been positive by now.  And since I just now had a LH surge today then there is no way I could already be PG this time around.

Wish me luck!!!  A year and half of trying sure is frustrating.
Thank you all again!

I don't want to get your hopes up, BUT - LH and HCG are virtually identical at a molecular level.  This means that OPKs can actually detect HCG (though HPTs cannot detect LH as HCG has something extra) and it would show as a surge.

Based on the timeline you're quoting, it's probably a bug since it's too early for PMS/progesterone symptoms, but there is a small chance you are pregnant.  Unlikely as the HPTs are showing negative, but just thought you'd like to know.

I understand the wait sucks, we haven't been preventing for 7 years.  Not actively trying the whole time but no birth control for the whole time (barring the 8 months after surgery).  Our time will come too :)  Now get off OH and go catch that egg!!

I found out I was pg at almost 5 weeks and my ms didn't start until about 9 weeks along (and thankfully only lasted till 12 wks).   I knew I was pg though before I took the test because my boobs were really sore and I hadn't started spotting yet (which I do about 2 days before af comes).   Some women dont' get a BFP unless they do a blood test or it takes like 2 weeks of them being late to show up on a test.  GL to you!
