I forgot to mention that Walmart sells those condoms.  They come in a black box with gold/yellow letters.

Hello,

You can use non-latex condoms (more than likely the condom is causing the irritation and infections, I had the same issues)  I didn't care for the polyurethane condoms because they weren't user friendly, more expensive, and just didn't seem to fit into our sex lives.  But they are out there.  I have also used a diaphragm... it worked... until I stopped using it.  The diaphragm took some planning because you need to put it in 20 mins before and leave it in for at least an hour after.  Although without using spemacide with it, it's not going to protect you after you remove it.  There is Encare, which is a foam.. but I am pretty sure that it is spermacide, too.

Wish I could offer more advice, but that's all I have.  LOL

Good luck
B

Thanks for all the good feedback ladies!  I think I'm going to have a heart-to-heart with my hubby this week before my doctor's appointment and just explain that there probably just isn't too much we can do aside from using condoms for just a few more months.  Depending on his attitude, I'll see what route I want to take.  If he is understanding and respectful of the situation, I'll keep putting more effort into figuring something else out...if he's just rude, I'll be a bit harsher about it (like no sex at all).  Not to play games with him or anything, but I think he does need to understand this isn't just me trying to be difficult (which I'm not  sure he gets at this point in time).

I guess on some level he doesn't understand there aren't really a lot more options.  For as many advances as science has made, there isn't necessarily a huge variety in birth control options yet.

I will probably also start "practicing" with Natural Family Planning.  I don't know that I totally want to rely on it alone right now, but I think that being more familiar with my body could only be a good thing.  Plus if I have any trouble conceiving when the time comes, I'm sure the first line of action would be that (in reverse) anyway.

Again, thanks for the feedback!

Cheers!
