TTC after IUD removal?
I am having my Paragard IUD removed in a couple of months and am anxious to get pregnant ( I already have a 12 yr old lol.) Has anyone had trouble concieving after an IUD? Dr says it can happen immedetely but I find it hard to believe the uterus doesnt need to recove from the "shock" so to speak.
Can any former IUD users offer some feedback? Thanks!
I had my Mirena in for 2 1/2 yrs and had it removed in May 2009 and waited two cycles to start ttc. My doc told me I could get pg right away, but I wanted to let my hormones balance out a little and have at least 1-2 periods before I got pregnant. Plus, I've heard that you have a slight chance of miscarrying if you get pg too soon after you get off any bc (I've just heard from some ladies complaining of m/c after getting pg right away from the IUD). I'm glad we waited too, I'm glad I'm due in April instead of Feb or March. I wanted more of a spring baby, when the weather is warmer.
It took me forever to get pg with my first two kids (this was pre- op when I weighed a lot- 2 yrs with my first and 14 months and 2 rounds of clomid with #2), so I was a little worried when ttc this one. But I got pg the first time we tried in July 2009 and you can imagine my SHOCK! GL to you!

Incidentally, I was so pleased with the IUD (Mirena) that I had a new one placed at my six week post partum visit. Pretty sure we are done but since I don't know for sure, I stuck with what I know works for me. Good luck to you!
