which thermometer do you recommend?

I bought a $10.99 digital one at Walgreens -it's made for kids as it's flexible and fast, but it's still an in the butt / mouth / arm one.

I take Cooper's temp when he seems fussy -- under his arm. He thinks it's a fun game to hear it beep when it's done.  It really only takes about 10 seconds.

Mine glows green for "good" , yellow for "border line" and red for "your baby is HOT"  - LOL.

I'm sure eventually I'll need something more sophisticated so I'm eager to see the responses.

I started out using just a regular digital thermometer that I put under the arm.  But Matthew got to wiggling too much and I never could get a good reading.  So now I have a temporal thermometer and I really like it.  Its just a quick swipe across the forehead and its done.  My pedi uses an ear thermometer like the one you have listed.  I have no experience with the infared thermometer.

I have a digital (that can be used for oral, rectal, or under arm).   I wanted to have a way to take a rectal temp, since I've heard that is the most accurate.

I have an ear thermometer too.  I've used it the most.   I suggest taking the babies temp when she/he doesn't feel warm.   Hannah's typically runs 97.5.  So when her temp says 99.0 it's really more like 100.

I just bought the kind that you run over the forehead.    I haven't used it enough to know whether I like it or not.

So, you could do like me and just have one of all of them lol.

Since the ear ones aren't accurate until the babies are like 2, I ended up trying the temporal one that scans across the forehead.  They say that they are the most accurate since it's the actual temp of the blood pumping thru the heart.  So far, it's been VERY accurate!  They are kinda tricky at first but my hubby and I kept trying it over and over on ourselves and got the same reading every time.  So, I think we have it figured out!
