Caloric Intake
When I talked to my bariatric doctor right after I got my BFP I was told I needed to up my calories to 2000 calories a day.
I never monitored my food intake and then mornings sickness set in and I KNOW I barely got in 500-800 cals a day.
The last few days since turning 12 weeks it seems my m/s has subsided (for now, right). The last 2 days I've felt like a PIG seemingly eating all day long. So yeasterday I tracked my food intake thinking that surly I hit the 2000 cal mark if not more. Instead I only reached 1283cals! Perfectly respectable and I've maintained my weight on what I have been eating the last few days so my cals have been between 1000-1300. Yesterday I even got 75g of protein in but 156g of carbs (oops).
Should I really strive to get in 2000 calories each day or should I be okay if I try to reach at least 1500 calories? I think I feel more comfortable with 1500 calories right now.
How much are you guys able to get in daily?

Mom to 8 ~ Adelyn Grace arrived July 8, 2010!
I was told to get 1800-2000 calories, 100 grams carbs and 90 grams of protein. But I seem to remember that you are less then a year out right?? I am almost 3 years out so I can eat more to begin with. I am usually closer to 1800 calories but baby is growing away and I haven't put on too much weight. I see my Surgeon and NUT in a few weeks and I'll be sure to ask again then. Also getting my labs pulled this week so we'll see how those look.
I was told to make small changes that would help add calories, use real butter (if you can tolerate it), drink a higher percentage milk, full fat cheese etc.
Good luck!

my nut told me similar... your pouch dosent change cause your pregnant... so you probably wont fit much more in through out the day even if you stop to eat every so often... I was told similar to try to change and up the calories of what you are eating... whole fat milk... whole fat cheese... etc... i was also told that if i didnt quite meet the mark shoot for a protein bar before bed. Replace regular drinks with milk or CIB throughout the day instead of water every time. theres ways around it but it sure is hard (i am only 9 months out and 12 weeks prego) i dont always reach that goal but i try... i drink my weight in milk everyday!
My dietician told me not to worry about upping my calories until I got the the second trimester and then just to add 300 to what I am already eating. I usually get between 1500 & 1800 a day (I have never used lf cheese...ewwww). But my OB told me I didn't really need to up my calories at all. I think I am going to go with my dietician since she knows about bariatric patients. But right now, I can't imagine adding another 300 calories. It's a lot of work just to get in the 15-1800. On top of that, I am craving veggies & fruit...not gonna get a whole lot of calories from that am I?
Good luck on getting more in.
