Way OT: Storing toddler shoes

First off I know Hannah has too many shoes, but I just can't part with any of them until she outgrows them!   She probably has about 10 pair or so.

I've been keeping them in a basket (put up high since she loves dragging all of them out).  The problem is that as her feet get bigger the shoes are not fitting very well in the basket.

I thought about getting one of those clear 3 drawer organizer to put in the bottom of her closet.  I'm just leary of that since she does like to play with her shoes so much.  I really don't want to have to pick up shoes from every room of the house.

I have the kind of closet doors that fold, so I'm not for sure if one of the over the door orgnanizers would work.   I think I might be nesting....I want everything organized NOW lol.

Where do you all keep your toddlers shoes?

Thanks,
Amy

I just had to say the shoe thing never ends. I have a 7 year old daughter and she thinks she needs a pair of shoes for every outfit. She loves playing dress up and getting into my shoes. She is old enough now that she picks them up on her own, though. We have a dresser drawer, the last one just for shoes, it is full.  I know the shoes are a pain but try to enjoy her girly side.

I just have to add... my son has 1 pair of shoes for everyday and then a dress pair.  He is 3 and this is how it's always been.
Now... my 1 month old daughter probably has already hit number 10!!!!   The difference between girls and boys is just crazy. :)

What about using an over the door shoe organizer on the back of her bedroom door? We also have the sliding doors, and this was my compromise. I put it on my daughter's bedroom door. while she's small, it fits more shoes too, because you can put one pair per slot. Just a thought.

I have a cheap version of this that goes in the closet. I think I got it at walmart or something for under 10 bucks. Works great. And I will get another one when she starts school to organize her clothes for the week.

Check it out.

Amy,

We also have the folding closet doors, but an over the door hanger works for us.  I got Charlotte's at Target, and I hung it over the outerpanel of the left side of the closet, which keeps it out of the way for the most part.  It is 4 pockets wide by 6 long for a total of 24.  Depending on the style of the shoe, you may be able to fit 1 pair in one pocket (like sandals).  I have 13 pairs in Charlotte's right now with 4 pockets to spare.
