Vasa Previa? Not good from what Im reading...scared!

I had another u/s today and they wanted to see if I still had Partial Previa. Well they said my placenta has moved more out of the way (not totally though) and now the blood vessels are right there at the opening of my cervix.  From what i am reading it doesnt sound very good.  It says that if I were to go into labor that the baby has a very high risk of not making it.  With this i will definately have a c section and my doc said she will just check me again in 3 weeks to see if it has moved.  My fear now is since my daughter was a premie, what happens if this one is and i dont make it to the hospital in time.  I took an FFN test today and it came back negative so i feel pretty good about that but i also read that his head being right there near my cervix, he can basically clamp the vessels with his head and then not make it.  Has anyone heard of this?  Any advice?  Anything at all?

Thanks
Shannon

My sister in law was thought to have this....turned out after more ultra sounds that she did not. She was told that she would need to be on bed rest right away and they would take the baby by 35 weeks. She also had a premie. Did you see a specialist or just a normal OB? If you did not see a specialist I would ask to see one so they can verify more accurately. Good luck!!

wow - no advice but wanted to let you know I'll send out some positive thoughts and prayers!

Did the Dr say anything about maybe scheduling the c-section earlier or anything?

Thanks you two.  The what to expect when your expecting book says its rare and that it only happens in 1 out of 5200 pregnancies.  :( Great.  My doctor said that they will do another u/s in three weeks and see what has happened.  She said if I start to bleed to go to the nearest hospital asap.  She also said that they will prob do an amnio around 35 weeks to see how early they can schedule the c section.  I only hope I can keep my self from worrying too much.  The ffn test coming back negative really makes me feel better so now I just have to wait...

How scary for you Shannon.  I have absolutely zero experience with this condition, but I would definitely rest as much as possible and wait as patiently as you can until your next u/s.  Does your OB know of your history of already having a preemie?

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

I've never heard of it...but can understand from reading what you wrote why you'd be worrying.  I hope everything's going fine in three weeks and they can schedule you for your c-section before labor begins.  I don't know if bedrest would help to prevent pre-mature labor...but know that I'd be sitting on my behind or in bed as much as feasibly possible to try to prevent it (at least mentally).

Keep us posted.
