OT: I'm in Sofia, Bulgaria now!
Hi Holly!
We missed you! Glad you made it to Bulgaria safe and sound.
Winters since WLS are really tough for me.... I cannot tolerate cold at all!
I look forward to seeing your pictures, but until then I am going to go Google your mountain and take a look!
Welcome Back.

I was thinking about you the other day - I wanted to ask how your husband's doing. I hope he's stabalized for now and that he gets the donor he needs soon.

He is stabile for now.... no dialysis yet ! *keeping fingers crossed*
His numbers looked good last month, but that could change on the flip of a dime.
One of his mom's friends offered her kidney -- but it's not someone we know well at all and it's kinda an awkward conversation.... so we're being hopeful about it , but there are so many hoops she'd have to jump through before we can really celebrate (mental hoops, medical hoops, time hoops, etc.)
For now I am happy for the status quo!

I'm glad his numbers are looking good. It'd be nice (as if you didn't know that already!) if they just stayed that way or reversed and even got better.
I can understand not getting your hopes up re his mom's friend. Sometimes it may be easy to say 'yeah, sure I'll do this, it won't affect my life,' but once they get into hearing about the chances it COULD affect their life, no one could blame some people for changing their minds. I have never been close to being in your husband's shoes...I have one perfectly healthy kidney (with a tiny little cyst on it)...but 2 1/2 years ago when my left kidney started screaming about an infection in it...and tests revealed that the kidney was basically dead and had been for years - it sure freaked my husband out thinking I might need a transplant. It took a while to convince him that the remaining one was fine, and that I could easily live on one. To know that your husband has had a transplant in the past and is facing another one in the future...that's got to be scary. You're amazingly strong and optimistic...which I'm sure gives your husband strength too.
