My birth story
I know I don't post a lot, but thought I'd post my birth story quick...
Monday, December 28th, I had to be at the hospital at 5:30 a.m. to prep for my c-section. They started out by running a strip to monitor the baby while they ran a urine sample, started an iv, drew blood, and signed all the consents. At around 6:30, I was wheeled down to the surgery waiting area to wait for the anesthesiologist and the OB doctor to get there. At 7:30, I was wheeled into the OR...
It took 4 sticks in the back for the anesthesiologist to get the spinal in. My legs started going numb right away. At this point, everything started happening pretty fast. I was catheterized and shaved and then my hubby was brought in. He was able to video tape the delivery, so he stood by my head for the whole thing. It took a while to get the incision made (I assume he was removing old scar tissue from all my previous procedures). I was listening to the doctor and his assistant talking to make sure I didn't miss someone saying that the baby was about to be delivered. What I heard next was "I am having trouble reaching her-she's flipped almost transverse". Then the assistant said "I have a little hand grabbing me trying to help herself out". After that, hubby said that he saw her hand and there she was!
Aubrie Julianna weighed 6lbs, 11 oz and was 20 inches long. She was born at 7:56 a.m. She pinked up right away, and peed right away. As soon as we got back up to my room, I tried nursing her. She took to it right away and has been great! She hardly ever cries and sleeps a lot. Her weight dropped 8 oz in the hospital, but was up 2 oz. by the time we were discharged. At her one week appointment, she was up to 6 lbs, 14 oz. Everything looks good other than having to have her newbron screening redrawn because it came back unsatisfactory. We had that redrawn Tuesday and then got a call today that they (the hospital) lost the 2nd set and will more than likely have to redraw AGAIN.
I will try to post some pictures if I can figure out how...
