Question re: hospital instructions

Hi ladies,

I found myself spending the day in the hospital Saturday to receive a couple bags of fluids due to vertigo.  Afterward, my dh and I have been talking about really needing to be prepared to tell the hospital staff exactly what my needs are as an rny patient.  Luckily, it was not an emergency and I was lucid enough to correct the small issues that arose like them serving me a liquid diet that included regular jello, full-sugar juice, etc and giving me benedryl capsules after I had an adverse reaction to some meds.   But next time I would like to be fully prepared to enlighten them as soon as I arrive.  I'd love to hear any suggestions you guys have on what I should include.  I actually think I will type it up and carry it in my purse and hospital bag for future use.

Thanks in advance!...Natalie

I would keep something available. Also do you know what hospital you will deliver at? If so call the birthing unit coordinator, see if you can pre-register early and have that in your records. That should help too.

Glad you are ok!

I was going to suggest typing it out - I would even give a copy to your OB's office now and I am pretty anal so I would probably bring one to the hospital now too so they can put it in your chart. Then have more copies for delivery time.

Good luck! I know last time I was in the hospital I just told them I needed a "diabetic diet" what did they bring me? Cran juice ****tail, regular ice cream and regular pudding...
